Rasmus Korhonen
Rasmus Korhonen (born 22 October 2002) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for Mikkelin Jukurit, Jukurit in the Liiga. He was selected 122nd overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes. Playing career In 2020, Korhonen played his first men's game for Ässät, against HC TPS, TPS. Straight after the first faceoff, TPS's Markus Nurmi shot the puck into the net, breaking the Liiga record for the fastest goal. On 10 May 2021, Korhonen signed a two-year contract with Porin Ässät (men's ice hockey), Ässät of the Finnish Liiga. On 29 June, Korhonen was sent to Kokkolan Hermes of the Finnish Mestis on a one-year loan. Mestis
Mestis (from fi, Mestaruussarja, meaning 'Championship series') is the second-highest men's ice hockey league in Finland. The league was established by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2000 to replace the I-divisioona ('First Division'). It had initially been the highest hockey league in Finland that could be reached through playing merits alone; the SM-liiga was closed (to teams being relegated or promoted) in 2000. After the 2004–05 season, KalPa was promoted to the SM-liiga, and the Liiga was re-opened in the 2008–09 season. Vaasan Sport was promoted in 2014–15, KooKoo was promoted in 2015–16, and Jukurit was promoted in 2016–17. Markus Korhonen
Markus Korhonen (born 29 April 1975) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey goaltender and the current goaltending coach of Ilves. Korhonen's son Rasmus Korhonen is a goaltender for Porin Ässät. Playing career Korhonen began his career with Ilves, based in his hometown of Tampere where he played for the junior team. He then spent two seasons with TuTo where he served as backup to Timo Lehkonen and Jukka Tammi in respective seasons. Korhonen returned to Ilves in 1996, backing up Vesa Toskala. After that he played for Kärpät, where despite posting the best save percentage in his career, he still served as backup to Tim Thomas. 2023–24 Liiga Season
The 2023–24 Liiga season was the 49th season of the Liiga, the top level of ice hockey in Finland, since its formation in 1975. Format The regular season started on Tuesday, 12 September 2023, with a match between Rauman Lukko and Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho in Rauma. The match was the only one of the day. As in previous seasons, 450 matches will be played in the regular season, 60 for each team. There are 25 full rounds of seven matches played, 16 of which are on Saturdays. A little more than half of the regular season, 262 matches, are played on Fridays and Saturdays. Most weekday games are played on Wednesdays (98). There were a total of 106 game days in the regular season, i.e. eight less than in the previous season. Niklas Rubin (born December 23, 1995) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender. He currently plays for Porin Ässät of the Liiga.
