Rasmus Jensen (speedway Rider)
Rasmus Jensen is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He was the 2022 champion of Denmark. Career Rasmus Jensen's career began in the year 2001. His first season in British racing was with Plymouth in 2013; at the end of the season, his official average was 7. At the end of the following 2014 Premier League season, his average was 6.14, and he was in fourth place among the Plymouth Devils riders' averages. Jensen completed 2016 with a 6.14 average and completed 2018 with a 6.59 average. He spent 2019 with the Second Division club Glasgow Tigers and reached an official average of 8.34, making his average the second highest on the team, behind Craig Cook. In 2019, he won the SGB Championship Pairs partnering Craig Cook, during the SGB Championship 2019 season. Jensen scored a total of three race wins on the night. Holsted
Holsted is a railway town in Vejen Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. It is situated at the stream of Holsted Å, 8 km west of Brørup. Holsted was the seat of Holsted Municipality until 1 January 2007. Holsted consist of two districts, the original village of Holsted on the north at Holsted Å and Holsted Stationsby on the south at the railway station. SGB Championship Pairs Championship
The SGB Championship Pairs formerly the Premier League Pairs Championship (from 1997 to 2016) is a motorcycle speedway contest for the second tier teams in the United Kingdom to determine the Pairs champions. The teams consist of the top two riders from each club competing. The meetings comprise ten teams of two riders drawn into two qualifying groups. Rules In the ''Qualification Heats'', riders are allocated starting gates. For the ''Semi-Finals'', the group winners have first choice of gate positions (A&C or B&D). Gate A is on the inside of the track, whilst Gate D is on the outside. For the ''Final'', the gate positions (A&C and B&D) are decided by the toss of a coin. All heats are scored as follows:*1st = 4pts, 2nd = 3pts, 3rd = 2pts, 4th = 0pts. This system is used to encourage team riding. 2024 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2024 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 30th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 79th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the third series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. A new sprint race was introduced at selected Grand Prix during the qualifying session, with the fastest rider in each qualifying session progressing to a single race for extra points. The idea behind the sprint race was similar to that brought into the Formula One, whereby the qualifying sessions were given more importance. Bartosz Zmarzlik successfully defended the title, which was his third in a row and a fifth overall. Robert Lambert took second place with Fredrik Lindgren in third. Summary Jack Holder won the opening round, which was the first Grand Prix win of his career. 2023 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2023 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 29th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 78th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the second series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Bartosz Zmarzlik was the defending champion, having won the 2022 title. Zmarzlik successfully retained the title, winning a fourth championship, despite being disqualified from round nine in Denmark. He beat Fredrik Lindgren by eight points, with Martin Vaculík securing the bronze medal. During the championships, Zmarzlik secured four Grand Prix wins after the Latvian Grand Prix, which equalled the 22 career Grand Prix wins of fellow Pole Tomasz Gollob. He then went on to win a fifth Grand Prix, which equalled the all-time record of 23 held by Jason Crump. 2024 Speedway Of Nations
The 2024 Speedway of Nations was the sixth edition of the Speedway of Nations, and 32nd edition of a pairs competition for national teams in motorcycle speedway. The competition consisted of three events, which took place at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester, England, between 9 July and 13 July 2024. The under-21 Speedway of Nations 2 took place at the same venue on 12 July. The first semi-final was won by Sweden, who finished one point ahead of Poland. Germany also secured a place in the final after winning the final qualifier against Finland. Mads Hansen (born 26 June 2000) is a Danish speedway rider. Career Hansen was the European Under-19 champion in 2018. 2023 Speedway World Cup
The 2023 FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 18th Speedway World Cup, an international motorcycle speedway world championship tournament organised by the FIM. The 2023 edition was the first since 2017 and took place between 25 July and 29 July 2023 and involved nine national teams. Poland successfully defended their 2017 title defeating Great Britain after a last heat decider. Great Britain trailed Poland by one point going into the final heat and Robert Lambert (who had only dropped one point all night) was positioned in second place with Maciej Janowski in fourth, which meant that Great Britain would take the title. However, Janowski moved into third place, which would send the final into a run-off, but the Pole overtook Lambert on the last lap to claim victory for Poland. The 2022 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 28th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 77th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the first series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Artem Laguta was the reigning champion, having won the 2021 title. However, due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, he and Emil Sayfutdinov did not return as all Russian and Belarusian riders had been suspended and were barred from participating in any FIM-sanctioned events. Bartosz Zmarzlik won the championship, claiming a third world title. Leon Madsen finished as runner-up, with Maciej Janowski taking the last spot on the podium. Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, the championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was usually run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a final consisting of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. The magazine is published every week of the year and the emphasis of the publication is on British speedway but also features international speedway from around the world. The magazine is owned and published by Pinegen Limited of Surbiton. It is widely regarded as the world's leading speedway magazine. History The magazine was founded by Eric Linden during the spring of 1952. SGB Championship 2019
The SGB Championship 2019 was the second division of British speedway. The season ran between March and October 2019 and consisted of 12 participating teams. The defending league champions were the Workington Comets, who completed an excellent 2018 season winning three major trophies. SUmmary Four new teams joined the SGB Championship in 2019 with two of them dropping down from the 2018 SGB Premiership league season these teams were Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels with Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers moving in the opposite direction. Two teams from the third tier of British speedway the National League Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles moved up into this season's league while the Lakeside Hammers did not compete. Craig Cook
Craig William Cook (born 21 May 1987) is a motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Born in Whitehaven, Cook's speedway career began in 2008. In 2009, Cook won the National League Riders Championship, held on 26 September at Rye House Stadium. He rode for Peterborough Panthers in 2010. He moved on to Edinburgh Monarchs, who he rode for in the Premier League between 2011 and 2015. As an Edinburgh rider, he won the Premier League Riders Championship, held on 14 October 2012 at Owlerton Stadium. He was twice part of the Edinburgh team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, which were held on 14 July 2013, at the East of England Arena and 1 October 2015, at the Media Prime Arena respectively.
