Rapyuta
Rapyuta is the online database for the RoboEarth Cloud Engine which is a platform as a service (PaaS). The database, which is part of the European RoboEarth Project, is used as an open-source tool for developers creating robotic applications in the cloud platform. It is designed to allow robots to query the database to learn about their environment, build, as well as providing guidance systems. Rapyuta project lead was Mohanarajah Gajamohan.Web-based 'brain' for robots goes live

RoboEarth Cloud Engine
Cloud robotics is a field of robotics that attempts to invoke cloud technologies such as cloud computing, cloud storage, and other Internet technologies centered on the benefits of converged infrastructure and shared services for robotics. When connected to the cloud, robots can benefit from the powerful computation, storage, and communication resources of modern data center in the cloud, which can process and share information from various robots or agent (other machines, smart objects, humans, etc.). Humans can also delegate tasks to robots remotely through networks. Cloud computing technologies enable robot systems to be endowed with powerful capability whilst reducing costs through cloud technologies. Thus, it is possible to build lightweight, low-cost, smarter robots with an intelligent "brain" in the cloud. The "brain" consists of data center, knowledge base, task planners, deep learning, information processing, environment models, communication support, etc. Components ...

Platform As A Service
Platform as a service (PaaS) or application platform as a service (aPaaS) or platform-based service is a category of cloud computing services that allows customers to provision, instantiate, run, and manage a modular bundle comprising a computing platform and one or more applications, without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching the application(s); and to allow developers to create, develop, and package such software bundles. Development and uses PaaS can be delivered in three ways: * As a public cloud service from a provider, where the consumer controls software deployment with minimal configuration options, and the provider provides the networks, servers, storage, operating system (OS), middleware (e.g. Java runtime, .NET runtime, integration, etc.), database and other services to host the consumer's application. * As a private service (software or appliance) behind a firewall. * As software deployed ...

Hayao Miyazaki
is a Japanese animator, director, producer, screenwriter, author, and manga artist. A co-founder of Studio Ghibli, he has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and creator of Japanese animated feature films, and is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation. Born in ward of Tokyo, expressed interest in manga and animation from an early age, and he joined Toei Animation in 1963. During his early years at Animation he worked as an in-between artist and later collaborated with director . Notable films to which contributed at include ''Doggie March'' and '' Gulliver's Travels Beyond the Moon''. He provided key animation to other films at , such as '' Puss in Boots'' and '' Animal Treasure Island'', before moving to A-Pro in 1971, where he co-directed '' Lupin the Third Part I'' alongside . After moving to (later known as Nippon Animation) in 1973, worked as an animator on '' World Masterpiece Theater'', ...

Anime
is hand-drawn and computer-generated animation originating from Japan. Outside of Japan and in English, ''anime'' refers specifically to animation produced in Japan. However, in Japan and in Japanese, (a term derived from a shortening of the English word ''animation'') describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin. Animation produced outside of Japan with similar style to Japanese animation is commonly referred to as anime-influenced animation. The earliest commercial Japanese animations date to 1917. A characteristic art style emerged in the 1960s with the works of cartoonist Osamu Tezuka and spread in following decades, developing a large domestic audience. Anime is distributed theatrically, through television broadcasts, directly to home media, and over the Internet. In addition to original works, anime are often adaptations of Japanese comics (manga), light novels, or video games. It is classified into numerous genres targeting various broad and nic ...

Laputa
Laputa uh·poo·tuhis a flying island described in the 1726 book ''Gulliver's Travels'' by Jonathan Swift. It is about in diameter, with an adamantine base, which its inhabitants can manoeuvre in any direction using magnetic levitation. The island is the home of the king of Balnibarbi and his court, and is used by the king to enforce his rule over the lands below. Location Laputa was located above the realm of Balnibarbi, which was ruled by its king from the flying island. Gulliver states the island flew by the “magnetic virtue” of certain minerals in the grounds of Balnibarbi which did not extend to more than above, and beyond the extent of the kingdom, showing the limit of its range. The position of the island, and the realm below, is some five days' journey south-south-east of Gulliver's last known position, 46° N, 183° E (i.e. east of Japan, south of the Aleutian Islands) down a chain of small rocky islands. Description The island of Laputa is described as be ...

Robot Operating System
Robot Operating System (ROS or ros) is an open-source robotics middleware suite. Although ROS is not an operating system (OS) but a set of software frameworks for robot software development, it provides services designed for a heterogeneous computer cluster such as hardware abstraction, low-level device control, implementation of commonly used functionality, message-passing between processes, and package management. Running sets of ROS-based processes are represented in a graph architecture where processing takes place in nodes that may receive, post, and multiplex sensor data, control, state, planning, actuator, and other messages. Despite the importance of reactivity and low latency in robot control, ROS is ''not'' a real-time operating system (RTOS). However, it is possible to integrate ROS with real-time code. The lack of support for real-time systems has been addressed in the creation of ROS 2, a major revision of the ROS API which will take advantage of modern librarie ...

WebSocket
WebSocket is a computer communications protocol, providing full-duplex communication channels over a single Transmission Control Protocol, TCP connection. The WebSocket protocol was standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force, IETF as in 2011. The current API specification allowing web applications to use this protocol is known as ''WebSockets''. It is a living standard maintained by the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group, WHATWG and a successor to ''The WebSocket API'' from the World Wide Web Consortium, W3C. WebSocket is distinct from Hypertext Transfer Protocol, HTTP. Both protocols are located at layer 7 in the OSI model and depend on TCP at layer 4. Although they are different, states that WebSocket "is designed to work over HTTP ports 443 and 80 as well as to support HTTP proxies and intermediaries", thus making it compatible with HTTP. To achieve compatibility, the WebSocket Handshake (computing), handshake uses the HTTP/1.1 Upgrade heade ...

Cloud Platforms
In meteorology, a cloud is an aerosol consisting of a visible mass of miniature liquid drop (liquid), droplets, ice crystals, frozen crystals, or other particulates, particles suspended in the atmosphere of a planetary body or similar space. Water or various other chemicals may compose the droplets and crystals. On Earth, clouds are formed as a result of saturation of the air when it is cooled to its dew point, or when it gains sufficient moisture (usually in the form of water vapor) from an adjacent source to raise the dew point to the ambient temperature. They are seen in the Earth's homosphere, which includes the troposphere, stratosphere, and mesosphere. Nephology is the science of clouds, which is undertaken in the cloud physics branch of meteorology. There are two methods of naming clouds in their respective layers of the homosphere, Latin and common name. Genus types in the troposphere, the atmospheric layer closest to Earth's surface, have Latin names because of the ...
