Ahir
Ahir or Aheer are a community of traditionally non-elite pastoralists in India, most members of which identify as being of the Indian Yadav community because they consider the two terms to be synonymous. The Ahirs are variously described as a caste, a clan, a community, a race and a tribe. The traditional occupations of Ahirs are cattle-herding and agriculture. Ahirwal
Ahirwal is a region spanning parts of southern Haryana , north-eastern Rajasthan, and South-Western Delhi The region was once a small principality based from the town of Rewari and controlled by members of the Yaduvanshi Ahir community from around the time when the Mughal empire was in decline. The name translates as "Land of the Ahirs". J. E. Schwartzberg has described it as a "folk region" and Lucia Michelutti as a "cultural-geographic region ... which includes parts of the districts of Alwar, Bharatpur in Rajasthan and Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurgaon in the state of Haryana." Rao Mitra Sen Ahir
Mitra Sen Ahir was an 18th century Ahir ruler of Rewari. He fought against many enemies, including Muslim, Marathas, British invaders and Kachhava rulers of Jaipur. He also fought Battle of Mandan and became samrat. In 1785, a Maratha expedition to Rewari was repelled by Rao of Rewari. Shortly afterwards he died.
