Rantzau (horse)
Rantzau (1946–1971) was a French-bred racehorse that went on to be an extremely influential sire of dressage, show jumping, and event horses, and is considered to be one of the most influential stallions from the French studbook. Rantzau stood . Background and breeding Henri Tambareau purchased the Thoroughbred mare, Rancune, in 1943 for use as a broodmare. She had won several times on the racetrack, and came from good lines, including that of the famous jumping sire Bay Ronald. Rantzau's sire, Foxlight, was one of the best stallions of the French national stud Le Haras du Pin, and also had the blood of Bay Ronald in his pedigree. After a notable career at the track, Foxlight retired to stud duty where he was quite successful, producing both flat racers and steeplechasers. Coulisa (born February 8, 2004, died October 11, 2014) was a chestnut mare registered in the Oldenburg studbook, a daughter of Couleur Rubin. Inseminated at 3 by the stallion Chacco-Blue, she gave birth in 2008 to the filly Chacclina at her home stud, Gestüt Lewitz, in Germany. She was then acquired by Swiss entrepreneur Thomas Straumann, who entrusted her to Irish rider Denis Lynch for show jumping competitions from 2012. Heavily whipped during the Grand Prix of the official 5-star International Show Jumping Competition (CSIO5*) in Rotterdam in June 2014, she fell into Spa bars and fractured her hip. The fall, broadcast live on Dutch television, leads to controversy due to the lack of punishment for the rider. Coulisa was euthanized three months later. He stood at 16.3½ hh (171 cm) and was an approved stud for Oldenburg, Rhinelander and Belgian Warmblood. Calvaro V (1986 – 1 October 2003) was a grey Holsteiner gelding sired in 1986. Punchestown
Punchestown Racecourse is located in the parish of Eadestown, between the R410 and R411 regional roads near Naas, County Kildare, in Ireland. It is known as the home of Irish Jumps Racing and plays host to the annual Punchestown Irish National Hunt Festival. The racecourse itself is right-handed with an undulating hurdle and steeplechase track. The hurdle course is one mile six furlongs in distance while the chase course is 2 miles. Punchestown Racecourse also has the only cross country banks course in Ireland. As well as horse racing, Punchestown has hosted several music events, including the annual Oxegen festival which ran from 2004-2011 and then again in 2013, while AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Eminem are among the artists to have played sold out concerts on the racecourse. Baloubet du Rouet (8 May 19897 August 2017) was a horse ridden by the Brazilian show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa. He has won many international titles. Born in 1989, Baloubet du Rouet won many of the greatest international show jumping competitions, including several world cup titles and two Olympic medals with the Brazilian team. In 1999, he won the World Cup Final in Gothenburg for the second time running, a feat that had only been done by 3 horses since the start of the World Cup competitions. At the World Cup Finals in 2000, he won for a record third time. He was quite successful at a young age, when ridden by Nelson Pessoa on the French circuit, including winning the 7 year old stallion test at Fontainebleau. Holsteiner
The Holsteiner is a breed of horse originating in the Schleswig-Holstein region of northern Germany. It is thought to be the oldest of warmblood breeds, tracing back to the 13th century. Though the population is not large, Holsteiners are a dominant force of international show jumping, and are found at the top levels of dressage, combined driving, show hunters, and eventing.
