Ranjan (actor)
Ranjan (born as Ramanarayana Venkataramana Sarma; 2 March 1918 – 12 September 1983) was an Indian actor, singer, journalist and writer. He debuted in the 1941 movie ''Ashok Kumar (film), Ashok Kumar'', but gained fame in S. S. Vasan's 1948 magnum opus ''Chandralekha (1948 film), Chandralekha''. Early life Ranjan was born Ramanarayana Venkataramana Sarma in Mylapore, Madras in 1918. His family hailed from the town of Srirangam. Ranjan had his schooling in Madras and received an M. Lit degree from Madras University. While studying in college, he participated in a number of stage plays. Coincidentally, an employee of Gemini Studios, Veppattur Kittu was present at one of his plays. Impressed by Ranjan's performance, Kittu suggested his name to T. G. Raghavachari, who cast him in the M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar-starrer ''Ashok Kumar (1941 film), Ashok Kumar'', in which he played the role of Gautama Buddha. Ranjan Ghosh ( '' ''Rônjôn Ghosh'''') is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter, known for his acclaimed work in Bengali cinema. He rose to prominence debuting as a screenwriter in 2011, co-authoring Aparna Sen's Bengali feature film Iti Mrinalini, by becoming the first and the only screenwriter the legendary actor-director had collaborated with in her illustrious career. Ranjan Ghosh is an Indian academic and thinker who teaches at the Department of English, University of North Bengal, India. His wide-ranging scholarly work spans across the fields of comparative literature, comparative philosophy, philosophy of education, environmental humanities, critical and cultural theory, and Intellectual history. Ranjan Gogoi (born 18 November 1954) is an Indian retired jurist and advocate who served as the 46th Chief Justice of India from 2018 to 2019. Deshabandu Ranjan Senerath Madugalle (, ; born 22 April 1959) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who currently serves as the Chief of the panel of ICC match referees. He was educated at Trinity College, Kandy, and Royal College, Colombo. He represented Sri Lanka in international cricket between 1979 and 1988, making his debut in the 1979 ICC Trophy final against Canada.
