Rangbaaz (TV Series)
''Rangbaaz'' is an Indian web series set against the rustic background of the Gorakhpur in the 1990s It was released as a ZEE5 original on 22 December 2018. In October 2019, ZEE5 renewed the show for a second season, ''Rangbaaz Phirse'', which premiered on 20 December 2019. Season three of Rangbaaz title Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti premiered on ZEE5 on 29 July 2022. Synopsis Season 1 Rangbaaz is based on the true story of Shri Prakash Shukla (Shiv Prakash Shukla in the series), who was a notorious gangster and the most wanted criminal of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The series shows his journey from a DDU student to becoming the second most wanted criminal in India. Shri Prakash Shukla
Shri Prakash Shukla (6 October, 1973-22 September, 1998) was an Indian gangster active during the 1990's mainly in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He used to be hired by primarily politicians to kill their opponents. He was killed on 22 September 1998, in an encounter with the UP police's Special Task Force. He was about 25 at the time of his death. Life Shukla was born in Mamkhor village, Gorakhpur on Dussehra () as Shiv Prakash Shukla to Ram Samujh Shukla, a retired IAF Officer later Government Contractor. Shukla was the youngest among 5 siblings. He is reported to have been a notable wrestler in his village. In 1993, Shukla killed a man called Rakesh Tiwari, due to local gang rivalry in the cable tv business. Suhaib Ilyasi
Suhaib Ilyasi (born 8 September 1966) is an Indian television producer and director. He was the host of the notable TV crime show ''India's Most Wanted''. He was the editor of the news magazine ''Bureaucracy Today''. After his wife died in 2000, Ilyasi was charged under Section 304B of the Indian Penal Code for dowry death. He also got involved in a legal battle with his in-laws for the custody of his daughter. Ilyasi was acquitted in the case, while the charges 498A and 304B were also not proven and Ilyasi was discharged for the aforesaid charges in the trial court. Later, he was charged with murdering his wife after 14 years of the incident. On December 20, 2017, he was convicted for the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. ''India's Most Wanted'' (IMW) was a crime busting fugitive hunter television show initially on Zee TV and later on DD1, India's national broadcaster Doordarshan. The show was made famous by its Anchor-Director and Producer, Suhaib Ilyasi with his unique presentation style and criminals actually being caught with the help of television. The show is considered to be the first and the biggest crime show on television in India. This program has shown live telecasts and helped police with 135 fugitives. Ilyasi later launched the show with India TV in 2005. The show did not do well as it did originally on Zee TV and DD1. Media watchers blame Ilyasi for choosing a new TV channel (India TV) to relaunch the show. Mohammad Shahabuddin (10 May 1967 – 1 May 2021) was a politician and former Member of Parliament from the Siwan constituency in the state of Bihar. He was a former member of the National Executive Committee of the Janata Dal and the Rashtriya Janata Dal. Shahabuddin was disqualified from contesting elections following his conviction for the kidnapping and disappearance of Chote Lal Gupta, an activist of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation for which he was serving a life sentence. He was also accused of killing 15 other Communist Party activists, including the former student leader Chandrashekhar Prasad.
