Randy Napoleon
Randy Napoleon (born 30 May 1978) is an American jazz guitarist, composer, and arranger who tours nationally and internationally. He has also toured with the Freddy Cole Quartet, Benny Green (pianist), the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra led by John Clayton, Jeff Clayton, and Jeff Hamilton, Rene Marie, and with Michael Bublé. He is an associate professor in the College of Music at Michigan State University and has done master classes at universities and music schools throughout the United States and Canada. Early life Napoleon was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 30, 1978. He is the son of Greg Napoleon, a software engineer, and Davi Napoleon, a theater historian and arts journalist, and the grandson of Jack Skurnick, a musicologist and founder of EMS Recordings, and Fay Kleinman, a painter. James Douglas Muir Leno (; born April 28, 1950) is an American television host, comedian, writer, and actor. After doing stand-up comedy for years, he became the host of NBC's ''The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Tonight Show'' from 1992 to 2009. Beginning in September 2009, he started a primetime talk show, ''The Jay Leno Show'', which aired weeknights at 10:00p.m. Eastern Time, ET, also on NBC. Rodney Whitaker
Rodney Whitaker (born February 22, 1968) is an American jazz double bass player and educator. Biography Born in Detroit, Whitaker attended Wayne State University, and studied with Robert Gladstone, principal bass with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. He achieved recognition performing with Terence Blanchard's Quintet and then with Roy Hargrove. His own first album ''Children of the Light'' was released in 1996. His score for the film ''China'', directed by Jeff Wray, was released on PBS in 2002. Quincy Davis (born August 27, 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a jazz drummer who has recorded with Tom Harrell, Benny Green, Hank Jones, Kurt Elling, The Clayton Brothers, Gerald Clayton, Russell Malone, Frank Wess, Eric Lewis, Junko Onishi, Ernestine Anderson, Vincent Gardner, and Randy Napoleon. Biography Davis grew up in a musical family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His brother is pianist Xavier Davis. He often played with his brother in their home. In grade school, he also picked up the trumpet and tuba. Near the end of his high school career, he attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan. There he played jazz in a group setting and studied classical percussion and trap-set drumming. Jared Gold (organist)
Jared Gold is an American jazz organist who plays the Hammond B-3 organ. He attended William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. In 1988 he won the Governor's Award for Jazz Performance in New Jersey. He has worked with Ralph Bowen, Benny Golson, Bill Goodwin, Bob Mintzer, Ralph Peterson Jr., Benny Powell, John Swana, and John Webber. Gold has been influenced by Larry Young, Jack McDuff, and Don Patterson. In 2004, guitarist Dave Stryker included Gold in his trio with drummer Tony Reedus. Gold appeared at Chez Hanny in 2005 with the Dan Pratt Organ Quartet, and in 2007 he toured the UK with the Randy Napoleon Trio. ''Enjoy the Moment'' is a 2002 album, a collaboration of guitarist Randy Napoleon and organist Jared Gold, featuring Quincy Davis on drums. "Enjoy the Moment" is also the name of the title song, written by Napoleon. “The melody came to me walking down Broadway with some friends. It's a song about appreciating friendship,” noted Napoleon about the title song.
