Randall Williams (showman)
Randall Kay Williams (17 July 1846 – 14 November 1898) was a Victorian showman noted for popularising moving pictures on British fairgrounds. The first known reference to a cinematograph exhibition in Williams' show was at Rotherham Statute Fair on 2 November 1896. Williams toured Britain for 25 years, first with a ghost illusion show, and then with a Bioscope show, bioscope. He reached the height of his career in the summer of 1897 when he exhibited at the Victorian Era Exhibition in Earl's Court, London with a show designed specifically to pay tribute to Queen Victoria, Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Williams was also an outspoken advocate for the travelling show community and a founding member of the United Kingdom Van Dwellers’ Protection Association, the fairground trade organization which evolved into what is known today as the Showmen's Guild of Great Britain. Randall Williams is a South African politician and attorney who served as the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality from October 2020 until February 2023. Previously, he served as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Economic Development and Spatial Planning and as the Chairperson of Municipal Appeals Tribunal between 2016 and 2019. Williams is a member of the Democratic Alliance. Early life and career Williams was born on the Cape Flats in Cape Town. Randell Alphonso Williams (born 30 December 1996) is an English professional footballer who last played as a full-back and winger for Leyton Orient. Career Early career After spending time with the Tottenham Hotspur academy and playing non-league football for Tower Hamlets, Williams signed for Crystal Palace in January 2016. He had been on trial with the club in December 2015. Williams was released by Palace at the end of the 2016–17 season; in July 2017 he signed for Watford. He moved on loan to Wycombe Wanderers in January 2018. He made his professional debut on 2 April 2018, in a league game against Grimsby Town, and was praised by Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth for his performance. Caroline Randall Williams (born August 24, 1987) is an American author, poet and academic best known for the 2015 cookbook ''Soul Food Love'', co-written with her mother, author Alice Randall, and published by Random House. In February, 2016, ''Soul Food Love'' received the NAACP Image Award in Literature (Instructional). In 2015, her book of poetry, ''Lucy Negro, Redux'' was published by Ampersand Books. ''Lucy Negro, Redux'' was adapted as a ballet by the Nashville Ballet. Biography Williams is a native of Nashville, Tennessee.
