Randall Manor is a neighborhood on the North Shore, Staten Island, North Shore of Staten Island, one of the five borough (New York City), boroughs of New York City, United States. The neighborhood is bound by Bard Avenue to the West, Henderson Avenue to the North, Forest Avenue to the South, and Lafayette Avenue to the East. It used to be part of Elliottville. Named after Captain Robert Richard Randall, the founder of Sailors Snug Harbor, the neighborhood lies immediately to the south of the latter, between New Brighton, Staten Island, New Brighton and West New Brighton, Staten Island, West Brighton. Robert Richard Randall
Robert Richard Randall was a sea captain in life, and, after his death in New York City on June 5, 1801, an important philanthropist, caring for thousands of retired seafarers. Life Captain Robert Richard Randall was born in New Jersey in 1750. Randall's father, Captain Tom Randall, emigrated from Scotland in the 1740s, and was a privateer who amassed an extremely large estate. He was a member of the Committee of Sixty, Committee of 51 which enforced the boycott of British goods up to the American Revolution. He was also a shareholder in the Tontine Coffee House, was one of the original 12 members of the New York Chamber of Commerce, and served as Vice Counsel to China. Captain Randall served as coxswain for the boat that carried George Washington from Elizabeth, New Jersey, Elizabethtown, New Jersey to Lower Manhattan for his first inauguration. Sailors' Snug Harbor, also known as Sailors Snug Harbor and informally as Snug Harbor, is a collection of architecturally significant 19th-century buildings on Staten Island, New York City. Emerson Hill is the name of a hilly area, and the neighborhood situated thereon, in Staten Island, New York, one of the five boroughs of New York City, United States. Some of the roads on Emerson Hill are private, and several gates were previously found at approaches to the enclave. Signage at the Douglas Road and Emerson Drive entrances to the area restrict truck traffic (except local deliveries) and through traffic. These areas lack gates and are not staffed by security personnel. The streets also lack signage denoting the roads as private. As such, it does not qualify as a gated community. Todt Hill ( ) is a hill formed of serpentine rock on Staten Island, New York. It is the highest natural point in the five boroughs of New York City and the highest elevation on the entire Atlantic coastal plain from Florida to Cape Cod. Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge
The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge ( ; also referred to as the Narrows Bridge, the Verrazzano Bridge, and simply the Verrazzano) is a suspension bridge connecting the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City, United States. It spans the Narrows, a body of water linking the relatively enclosed New York Harbor with Lower New York Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the only fixed crossing of the Narrows.
