Randall Lyon
John Randall Lyon (born 4 March 1952, Trinidad) is a former Trinidad cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1974 to 1983. He toured India in 1978-79 with the West Indian team but did not play Test cricket. A wicket-keeper and lower-order batsman, Randall Lyon made his first-class debut for North Trinidad in the Texaco Cup in the 1973-74 season. He first played for Trinidad in the 1975-76 Shell Shield, when he led the competition's fielding statistics with 11 dismissals, including five stumpings off the spin bowling of Raphick Jumadeen and Inshan Ali. He continued to play for Trinidad in 1976-77 and 1977-78, making his only first-class fifty against Barbados in 1977-78. With most of the senior West Indian cricketers playing World Series Cricket in Australia in the 1978-79 season, Lyon was one of several inexperienced players to be selected for the tour of India. Regional Four Day Competition
The Regional Four Day Competition, formerly known as Shell Shield and Carib Beer Cup, is the first-class cricket competition in the West Indies. It is administered by the Cricket West Indies. In the 2013-2014 season the winner of the tournament was awarded the WICB President's Trophy while the winners of the knockout competition were awarded the George Headley/Everton Weekes trophy. In a few previous seasons the winners of the tournament were awarded the Headley/Weekes trophy. From the 2017–18, the Competition had been sponsored by Digicel and was known as the Digicel Four Day Championship. In 2019-20, the competition has been known as the West Indies Championship. Brendan Paul Nash (born 14 December 1977) is a Jamaican Australian former professional cricketer who played Test and One Day International cricket for West Indies. Barbados Cricket Team
The Barbados national cricket team is the national cricket team of Barbados, organised by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA). Inshan Ali (25 September 1949 – 24 June 1995) was a West Indian international cricketer who played in 12 Test matches from 1971 to 1977. Biography Born in Preysal, Trinidad and Tobago, of Indian descent, Ali was the second of eight children to Asgar, a manual labourer, and Naimoon Ali. Ali was a left-arm unorthodox spin bowler who made his first-class cricket debut for South Trinidad against North Trinidad on 15 April 1966, aged just 16 years and 202 days. He took three wickets for 89 runs. The Beaumont Cup was a Trinidadian first-class cricket competition which regional sides competed for, the matches taking place over three days. History The competition began in 1925–26, when Rolland Beaumont, the South African Test cricket, Test player who had moved to Trinidad and become manager of an oil company, donated the cup to be played for by North Trinidad cricket team, North Trinidad and South Trinidad cricket team, South Trinidad. Beginning with the 1958–59 season the annual match was granted first-class status. North Trinidad Cricket Team
The North Trinidad cricket team played first-class cricket from 1959 to 1979, competing in the Beaumont Cup and its successor competition the Texaco Cup. North Trinidad played South Trinidad annually for the Beaumont Cup from 1925–26 to 1957–58, when the matches were not considered first-class, and from 1958–59 to 1969–70, when they had first-class status. Of these 12 first-class matches, North Trinidad won five and the rest were drawn. Their highest score in this period was by Bryan Davis, who scored 188 not out in 1966–67, and the best bowling figures were by Bernard Julien, who took 7 for 63 (including the first three wickets of the innings with a hat-trick) in 1968–69.
