Ramshead Device(2)
The Ram's Head Device is a Group 4 "special skill" badge of the United States Army National Guard. The Ram's Head Device is awarded to any service-member upon completion of the Army Mountain Warfare School (AMWS), based at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont, though its wear is (officially) only permitted on the uniforms of New England National Guard personnel serving in a state capacity. The device is set to be replaced by the U.S. Army's "Mountaineering Badge," which is heavily inspired by the "ram's head," and is set to be authorized for wear Army-wide. The Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) is a United States Army military decoration. The 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) ("The Vermont Brigade") is an Army National Guard light infantry brigade headquartered in Vermont. It was reorganized from an armored brigade into an Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) as part of the United States Army's transformation for the 21st century. The 86th IBCT utilizes the Army Mountain Warfare School, co-located at Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont, to train in individual military mountaineering skills so the entire brigade can be skilled in such warfare. Vermont National Guard
The Vermont National Guard is composed of the Vermont Army National Guard and the Vermont Air National Guard. Together, they are collectively known as the Green Mountain Boys. Both units use the original Revolutionary War-era Flag of the Green Mountain Boys as their banner. In 2009, they had 2,600 members. Jericho is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,104. The town was named after the ancient city of Jericho. History Ira Allen and Remember Baker began surveying the town of Jericho in 1773 for the Onion River Land Company. Ethan Allen Firing Range
Camp Ethan Allen Training Site is a Vermont National Guard installation located in Jericho, Vermont. It is the location of the Army Mountain Warfare School and the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. It was looked at as a future location for a proposed missile battery until 2013. At the camp is a fifty caliber machine gun range, the only one in New England. The Army Mountain Warfare School (AMWS) is a United States Army school located at the Camp Ethan Allen Training Site, Jericho, Vermont to train soldiers in mountain warfare, the specialized skills required for operating in mountainous terrain.
