Ralph Fults
Ralph Fults (January 23, 1911 – March 16, 1993) was a Depression-era outlaw and escape artist associated with Raymond Hamilton, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow of the Barrow Gang. Early life Fults was born in Anna, Texas. His father was a U.S. postal worker. Fults was first arrested at age 14, in Aspermont, Texas, after police found him carrying a suitcase full of stolen goods. Fults escaped from the town's jail a week later after making a key from an old tobacco can. With the town sheriff attending the county fair, Fults started a mass jailbreak, letting the remaining inmates out of jail. Fults was soon recaptured and incarcerated in the Gatesville State School, from which he escaped on April 16, 1927. In 1929, Fults was arrested and convicted of burglary after selling stolen cigarettes to a grocer in Greenville, Texas. Anna, Texas
Anna is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. Located in Collin County, its population was 16,896 at the 2020 U.S. census. History Following the American Civil War, the Houston and Texas Central Railway resumed laying track north from Corsicana and passed through the area in 1872. By the time Anna was platted in 1883, it had a population of 20, two stores, a steam gristmill, and a Baptist church. A post office also opened in that year. In 1885, the railroad built a depot. By 1890 the town had a population of nearly 200. Anna was incorporated in 1913, with John L. Greer as first mayor. Local historian Chester A. Howell (1921-2019) compiled a brief history of Anna for inclusion in a book, ''A Town Named Anna'', that was given to those who attended the Anna school homecoming on October 19, 1985. Norman Vincent Peale
Norman Vincent Peale (May 31, 1898 – December 24, 1993) was an American Protestant clergyman, and an author best known for popularizing the concept of positive thinking, especially through his best-selling book '' The Power of Positive Thinking'' (1952). He served as the pastor of Marble Collegiate Church, New York, from 1932, leading this Reformed Church in America congregation for more than a half century until his retirement in 1984. Alongside his pulpit ministry, he had an extensive career of writing and editing, and radio and television presentations. Despite arguing at times against involvement of clergy in politics, he nevertheless had some controversial affiliations with politically active organizations in the late 1930s, and engaged with national political candidates and their campaigns, having influence on some, including a personal friendship with President Richard Nixon. Graham, Texas
Graham is the county seat of and largest city in Young County. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, it has a population of 8,732. History The site was first settled in 1871 by brothers Gustavus A. and Edwin S. Graham, primary shareholders in the Texas Emigration and Land Company of Louisville, Kentucky. The brothers moved to Texas after the Civil War, and after buying in then-vast Young County, helped to revitalize the area, the population of which had become badly depleted during the war. During that same year as when Graham was settled, the Warren Wagon Train raid occurred about 12 miles north of the city.
