Ralph de la Torre is a Cuban Americans, Cuban American former Health administration, health care executive and Cardiac surgery, cardiac surgeon. The Chief executive officer, CEO of Steward Health Care System, Steward Health Care from 2010 to 2024, and previously CEO of its predecessor Caritas Christi Health Care starting in 2008, de la Torre also founded and served as the first head of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's CardioVascular Institute from 2007 to 2008. De la Torre is currently the subject of a congressional investigation into the financial mismanagement of Steward, which declared bankruptcy in May 2024. A fellowship is the period of medical training, in the United States and Canada, that a physician, dentist, or veterinarian may undertake after completing a specialty training program (residency).
