Ralph Bakshi
Ralph Bakshi (; born October 29, 1938) is a Mandatory Palestine-born American retired animator and filmmaker, known for his fantastical animated films. In the 1970s, he established an alternative to mainstream animation through independent animation, independent and adult animation, adult-oriented productions. Between 1972 and 1994, he directed nine theatrically released feature films, predominantly urban fiction, urban drama film, dramas and fantasy films, five of which he wrote. He has also been involved in numerous television projects as director, writer, producer and animator. Beginning his career at the Terrytoons television cartoon studio as a cel polisher, Bakshi was eventually promoted to animator and then director. He moved to Famous Studios, the animation division of Paramount Pictures in 1967 and started his own studio, Bakshi Productions, in 1968. Hey Good Lookin' (film)
''Hey Good Lookin'' is a 1982 American adult animated coming of age comedy-drama film written, directed, and produced by Ralph Bakshi. The film takes place in Brooklyn during the 1950s and focuses on Vinnie, the leader of a gang named the Stompers, his friend Crazy Shapiro, and their respective girlfriends Roz and Eva. The film stars the voices of Richard Romanus, David Proval, Tina Bowman, and Jesse Welles. The film was first completed in 1975 as a live-action/animated film, in which only the main characters were animated and the rest were portrayed by live actors, but the film's release was pushed back and later postponed indefinitely. Fritz The Cat
''Fritz the Cat'' is a comic strip created by Robert Crumb. Set in a "supercity" of anthropomorphic animals, it focused on Fritz, a tabby cat who frequently went on wild adventures that sometimes involved sexual escapades. Crumb began drawing the character in homemade comic books as a child, and Fritz would become one of his best-known characters. The strip first appeared in ''Help!'' and ''Cavalier'' magazines, and subsequently in publications associated with the underground comix scene between 1965 and 1972; ''Fritz the Cat'' comic compilations elevated it to one of the underground scene's most iconic features. Steve Krantz
Stephen Falk Krantz (May 20, 1923 – January 4, 2007) was a film producer and writer, most active from 1966 to 1996. Career Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Krantz graduated from Columbia University and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Pacific during World War II as a second lieutenant. He worked as a comedy writer for Milton Berle and Steve Allen. His later years were devoted to the production of animated cartoons in Canada. After firing Shamus Culhane from the animator's supervising director job on '' Rocket Robin Hood'', director Ralph Bakshi and background artist Johnnie Vita were brought to Toronto, not knowing that Krantz and producer Al Guest were in the middle of a lawsuit. Failing to reach a settlement with Guest, Krantz told Bakshi to grab the series' model sheets and return to the United States. Terrytoons
Terrytoons, Inc. was an American animation studio headquartered in New Rochelle, New York, which was active from 1929 until its closure in December 1972 (and briefly returned between 1987 and 1996 for television in-name only). Founded by Paul Terry (cartoonist), Paul Terry, Frank Moser (artist), Frank Moser, and Joseph Coffman, it operated out of the 271 North Avenue, "K" Building in downtown New Rochelle. The terms independent animation or indie animation refers to animated shorts, web series, and feature films produced outside a major national animation industry.
