Rally Of Progressive National Democrats
The Rally of Progressive National Democrats (french: Rassemblement des démocrates nationaux progressistes, RDNP) is a political party in Haiti. History The RDNP was founded in 1979 by then exiled president Leslie Manigat. It was registered officially as political party on 25 May 1987, but only on 15 July 1987 was it recognized by the electoral authorities. In the Haitian presidential election in 1988, Leslie Manigat wins with 50.2% of the popular vote and was elected president. In the parliamentary elections in 1990, RDNP elected only one seat in Senate. In Haitian presidential elections in February 2006, its candidate Leslie Manigat won 12.4% of the popular vote. In the 2006 Senate elections, the party picked up 10.7% of the popular vote, yet only 1 out of 30 Senators. In the 2006 Chamber of Deputies elections, the party won 4 out of 99 seats. Eric Jean Baptiste
Eric Jean Baptiste (13 August 1970 – 28 October 2022) was a Haitian politician and entrepreneur who served as the leader of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats from 16 August 2018 until his death on 28 October 2022. He was a candidate in the 2015 presidential election, representing the ''Mouvement Action Socialiste'' (MAS) party. Biography Eric Jean Baptiste was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Michel Martelly
Michel Joseph Martelly (; born 12 February 1961) is a Haitian musician and politician who was the President of Haiti from May 2011 until February 2016. He was sanctioned by the Canadian Government for his involvement in human rights violations and supporting criminal gangs on 17 November 2022. Martelly was one of Haiti's best-known musicians for over a decade, going by the stage name Sweet Micky. For business and musical reasons, Martelly has moved a number of times between the United States and Haiti. When travelling to the United States, Martelly mostly stays in Florida. Mirlande Manigat
Mirlande Manigat (born Mirlande Hyppolite in Miragoâne, on November 3, 1940) is a Haitian constitutional law professor and candidate in the 2010 presidential election. She is the widow of former president Leslie Manigat and briefly served as First Lady of Haiti in 1988. 2010 presidential election Mirlande Manigat was the presidential candidate for the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP) centre-right party. On October 18, 2010, Dr. Manigat also received the endorsement of the Collectif pour le Renouveau Haïtien (COREH). General elections were held in Haiti on 7 February 2006 to elect the replacements for the interim government of Gérard Latortue, which had been put in place after the 2004 Haiti rebellion. Senate (Haiti)
The Senate (french: Sénat, ) is the upper house of Haiti's bicameral legislature, the Haitian Parliament. The lower house of the Haitian Parliament is the Chamber of Deputies. The Senate consists of thirty seats, with three members from each of the ten administrative departments. Prior to the creation of the department of Nippes in 2003, there were twenty-seven seats. Senators are elected by popular vote to six-year terms, with one-third elected every two years. There are no term limits for Senators; they may be re-elected indefinitely. After the elections of 2000, twenty-six of the then twenty-seven seats were held by Jean-Bertrand Aristide's Fanmi Lavalas party.
