Ralfonso Gschwend
Ralfonso "Ralf" Gschwend (born April 29, 1959) is a Swiss Kinetic sculpture, kinetic sculptor. Life and work Sculpture designs range in size from 2 ft to 180 ft. Sculptures have been exhibited or installed in Switzerland, Russia, Netherlands,Sprezzatura (Netherlands) Article in Dutch about Ralf Gschwend and KAO at the ART IN MOTION Biennale - China, Germany and the USA. As president from its inception, he co-founded the Kinetic Art Organization (KAO) www.kinetic-art.org in 2001 with a German and a US fellow Kinetic Artist. Kinetic Sculpture
Kinetic art is art from any medium that contains movement perceivable by the viewer or that depends on motion for its effects. Canvas paintings that extend the viewer's perspective of the artwork and incorporate multidimensional movement are the earliest examples of kinetic art. More pertinently speaking, kinetic art is a term that today most often refers to three-dimensional sculptures and figures such as Mobile (sculpture), mobiles that move naturally or are machine operated (see e.g. videos on this page of works of George Rickey and Uli Aschenborn). The moving parts are generally powered by wind, a motor or the observer. Kinetic art encompasses a wide variety of overlapping techniques and styles. Grounds For Sculpture
Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is a Sculpture garden, sculpture park and museum located in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey, Hamilton Township, New Jersey. It is located on the former site of Trenton Speedway. Founded in 1992 by John Seward Johnson II, the venue is dedicated to promoting an understanding of and appreciation for contemporary sculpture by organizing exhibitions, publishing catalogues, and offering a variety of educational programs and special community events. In July 2000, GFS became a nonprofit organization open to the public. Operation revenues come from visitors, art patrons, donations, and grants.
