Raksila
Raksila is a District of the city centre area of Oulu, Finland. It is bounded by the Oulu railway station to the west, the Oulu Cemetery in the Intiö district to the north, the Finnish national road 4 to the east and the Finnish national road 22 to the south. The western part of Raksila is mainly residential area with some high-rise apartment buildings and a few blocks of older wooden townhouses. The eastern part is the Raksila Sports Center with Oulu Ice Hall, Oulu Swimming Pool, Ouluhalli indoor arena, Oulu datacenter stadium for Pesäpallo and other sports facilities, one which is Raksila Artificial Ice Rink, the main venue of the 2001 Bandy World Championship. The Välkkylä student apartments located in the district were built in 1966. Oulun Energia Areena
Oulun jäähalli ('Oulu Ice Hall' or 'Oulu Ice Rink'), previously known as Raksilan jäähalli and called Oulun Energia Areena since 2006 for sponsorship reasons, is an ice sport arena in the Raksila Sports Centre, located in the Raksila district of Oulu, Finland. It is operated by the City of Oulu. The arena is best known as an ice hockey venue and the home of Liiga team Oulun Kärpät. History Construction of the Oulu Ice Hall began in 1974 and the venue was opened in 1975 under the name ''Raksilan jäähalli'' ('Raksila Ice Hall'). The arena has gone through several updates and renovations, first in 1988 and again in 1994. A significant renovation was undertaken during 2003–04, which decreased the spectator capacity from the original 7,600 to 6,614. A new rinkside restaurant was opened in the hall in 2018, which further decreased the spectator capacity. Oulu Swimming Pool
Oulu Swimming Pool is an indoor swimming pool in the Raksila neighbourhood in Oulu, Finland. It is the biggest of the three indoor swimming pools in Oulu and one of the biggest in Finland. The swimming pool designed by architect Risto Harju was completed in 1974. The main pool is a pool with eight lanes. In addition to the main pool there are a lap pool, children's pools, a pool with a water slide and an activity pool. The Bandyliiga (; 'Bandy League') is the top level of men's bandy in Finland. The league was founded in 1908 as the Jääpallon SM-sarja ('Bandy Finnish Championship Series') and the present name has been used since the 1991–92 season. Oulu Railway Station
The Oulu Railway Station is located in the centre of Oulu, Finland, in the city district of Vaara. All trains are operated by VR. Nearby is the Oulu bus station for long-distance buses. The railway station was built in 1886 when the Ostrobothnia railway line reached Oulu. The railway from the south to Oulu was electrified in 1983, using overhead electric wires at 25 kV. The electrification northwards from Oulu to Rovaniemi was not completed until 2004. In 2006 the railway from Oulu to Iisalmi was also electrified. Oulu Cemetery
The Oulu Cemetery ( fi, Oulun hautausmaa) is a cemetery located in the Intiö district close to the city centre of Oulu, Finland. The cemetery was inaugurated in 1781 by vicar Carl Henrik Ståhle. After the vicar the cemetery was first known as ''Ståhleborg'', the oldest section is still called with the old name. There are two funeral chapels in the cemetery: the old chapel designed by architect Otto F. Holm was completed in 1923 and is located in the older section. The new chapel designed by architect Seppo Valjus was built in 1972–1973. The crematory is located in the new chapel building. The cemetery includes a military cemetery section for soldiers fallen in the Second World War. The war graves area with a war memorial was inaugurated in September 1952. Intiö is a district of the city centre area of Oulu, Finland. It is located on the southern bank of the Oulu River in between Myllytulli and Värttö districts.
