Dragutin Rakovac
Dragutin Rakovac (or Rakovec) (1 November 1813 – 22 November 1854) was a Croatian writer, translator and journalist. He was born in Vugrovec. He received a degree in philosophy and law in 1831 in Zagreb. From 1831 he was employed at the Tabula Banalis and in a law clerk office. He was an associate of Ljudevit Gaj and an editor of the ''Novine horvatske'' (1835–1842). Together with Ljudevit Vukotinović and Stanko Vraz he founded and edited magazine Kolo in 1842. Since 1841 he served as a secretary of the Economic Society and an editor of several of its publications. He also edited ''Koledar za puk'' (1847–1850). He founded the magazine ''Gospodarki list'' and edited it from 1841 to 1850. He became the first curator of the National Museum in 1846. In his youth Rakovac wrote, translated and adapted works in the Kajkavian dialect ( Theodor Körner and others). Ladislav Rakovac
Ladislav Rakovac (December 6, 1847 – April 14, 1906) was a Croatian physician. He was born in Varaždin. After completing his degree in medicine in Vienna and specialization in internal medicine as the first Croatian internist, in 1874-1880 he led the internal department of the ''Bolnica milosrdne braće'' hospital in Zagreb. Rakovac Monastery
The Rakovac Monastery ( sr, Манастир Раковац, Manastir Rakovac) is a Serb Orthodox monastery on the Fruška Gora mountain in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. The monastery of Rakovac with its church dedicated to the Holy Healers Cosmas and Damian, as tradition has it, was founded by Raka Milošević, Chief Chamberlain to Despot Jovan Branković, according to a legend written in 1704. The legend states that Raka erected the monastery in 1498. The earliest historical records mentioning the monastery are dated to 1545–1546. Inside, there are fragments of the frescoes on the walls which date from the first half of the 16th century. The baroque bell-tower was adjoined in 1735, and the residential building gained its final, three-range shape in 1771. The icons on the baroque iconostasis were painted by Vasa Ostojić in 1763, while the wall paintings in the refectory are 1768 works of Amvrosije Janković.
