Maxim Rakov
Maxim Rakov (born 7 February 1986) is a Kazakhstani judoka. Rakov won the 2009 World Championships in the men's half-heavyweight (100 kg) division, beating Henk Grol in the final. Rakov won the silver medal at the 2011 World Championships, losing to Tagir Khaybulaev in the final. Previously, he had competed in the middleweight (90 kg) category, winning a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games. In 2007 he had a shoulder injury that required surgery. As a result, he missed the 2008 Olympics and considered to retire from sport. His father, who also served as his coach, encouraged him to continue. At the 2012 Games he was eliminated in the first bout. Nikolai Rakov
Nikolai Petrovich Rakov (, ''Nikolaj Petrovič Rakov''; , – 3 November 1990), was a Soviet violinist, composer, conductor, and academic at the Moscow Conservatory where he had studied. He composed mostly instrumental works, for orchestra, chamber music and piano music, especially pedagogic works. In 1946, he received the Stalin Prize for his first violin concerto, which became known internationally. Life Born in Kaluga, Rakov first studied violin at the Rubinstein Music School in his hometown, and later composition at the Moscow Conservatory with Reinhold Glière and Sergei Vasilenko. After graduating in 1931, he served as Glière's assistant at the Conservatory in the following year, before becoming a lecturer himself in 1935 and professor of orchestration in 1943. Rakov's pupils included Edison Denisov, Boris Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Peiko, Andrei Eshpai, and Alfred Schnittke. Vadim Sergeyevich Rakov (; born 9 January 2005) is a Russian footballer who plays as a left winger for Krylia Sovetov Samara on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow. Early life Born in Voronezh, he began his football journey at the Fakel Voronezh Youth Academy. In 2015, at just 10 years old, he caught the attention of scouts during a regional Lokobol tournament and received an invitation to join the FC Lokomotiv Moscow Academy. The forward played for Lokomotiv's 2005-born team and, in 2021, was recognized as the best player in Moscow for his age group. Vasily Ivanovich Rakov (; – 28 December 1996) was a pilot in the Soviet Naval Aviation who was twice awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union in 1940 and 1945 for his actions in the Winter War and World War II respectively; afterward, he remained in the military, reaching the rank of Major-General. Early life Rakov was born on to a working-class Russian family in St. Petersburg. After starting his studies in 1917 he and his family left Petrograd for the countryside due to the famine, and they remained there until 1925. Marina Rakova Case
The Marina Rakova Case is a criminal case of fraud on a large scale opened in 2021 against the ex-deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova. 7 people were held accountable, including the Rector of the Moscow School for the Social and Economic Sciences Sergey Zuev and RANEPA rector Vladimir Mau. All the accused denied any wrongdoing and were kept in detention centers, except Kristina Kruchkova, ex-Executive Director of MSSES, who gave a confession and was put under house arrest. Meanwhile, Sergey Zuev was detained soon after heart surgery; he was several times denied transfer under house arrest despite his grave health condition. Marina Rakova made a confession statement after 9 months in a detention center, she and Zuev offered to compensate for the alleged damage.
