Rajya Sabha Members From Gujarat
The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Gujarat elects 11 seats and they are indirectly elected by the state legislators of Gujarat. Earlier since 1952, Bombay State elects 17 seats, Saurashtra State elects 4 seats and Kutch State elects 1 seat. After Constitution (Seventh Amendment) Act of 1956, Bombay State elects 27 seats. After Bombay Reorganisation Act of 1960, three seats were increased and effective from 1 May 1960, the new Gujarat State elects 11 seats while new Maharshtra State elects 19 seats. The number of seats, allocated to the party, are determined by the number of seats a party possesses during nomination and the party nominates a member to be voted on. Elections within the state legislatures are held using Single transferable vote with proportional representation. Abhay Bharadwaj
Abhay Ganpatrai Bharadwaj (2 April 1954 – 1 December 2020) was an Indian advocate and politician who was a member of the Rajya Sabha. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he was closely affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since his college days. Bharadwaj had also unsuccessfully contested the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in 1995 as an independent candidate from Rajkot West. K. Jana Krishnamurthi (24 May 1928 – 25 September 2007) was an Indian political leader who rose to be the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2001. Amethi (Lok Sabha Constituency)
Amethi is one of the 80 Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian parliament) constituencies in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This constituency covers the entire Amethi district and was created in 1967. Like its neighbouring constituency Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency, Rae Bareli, it is considered to be a bastion of the Indian National Congress. Its first member of parliament (MP) was Vidya Dhar Bajpai of the Indian National Congress (INC) who was elected in 1967 and held his seat in the next election in 1971.
