Raju Bharatan
Raju Bharatan (1934 – February 7, 2020) was a journalist and writer on Indian cricket and Bollywood music. He worked for a weekly features magazine, ''The Illustrated Weekly of India,'' and an Indian films weekly newspaper, ''Screen''. He also directed ''The Victory Story'' (1974), the first full-length Indian cricket documentary. He died aged 86 in Mumbai in February 2020 after a prolonged illness. His wife, Girija Rajendran, who predeceased him, was also a film journalist. The Illustrated Weekly Of India
''The Illustrated Weekly of India'' was an English-language weekly newsmagazine publication in India. It started publication in 1880 (as ''Times of India'' Weekly Edition; later renamed as ''The Illustrated Weekly of India'' in 1923) and ceased publication in 1993. Also simply known as ''Weekly'' by its readership, ''The Illustrated Weekly of India'' was considered to be an important English-language publication in India for more than a century. The magazine was edited by Sean Mandy, A. S. Raman, Khushwant Singh, M. V. Kamath, and Pritish Nandy. A. S. Raman was the first Indian editor of ''The Illustrated Weekly of India'', succeeding Sean Mandy. Khushwant Singh took over as editor nearly a year after Raman's formal departure. ''Screen'' is an Indian weekly film magazine published by Indian Express Limited. Established in 1951, it was owned by The Indian Express Group. The magazine was acquired by Star India in 2015 and subsequently ceased publication. It was relaunched in 2024. The magazine's content focused on India's Hindi film industry, a.k.a. Naushad Ali (25 December 1919 – 5 May 2006) was an Indian composer for Hindi films. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest and foremost music directors of the Hindi film industry.
