Rajesh Singh Adhikari
Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, MVC (25 December 1970 – 30 May 1999), was an Indian Army officer who died during the Kargil War. He was posthumously awarded the second highest Indian military honour, the Maha Vir Chakra for bravery on the battlefield. Early life Major Adhikari was born in Almora was raised in Nainital. He completed his schooling from St. Joseph's College in 1987, Intermediate from Government Inter College, Nainital and B.Sc. from Kumaon University in 1992. Military career He attended the Indian Military Academy, a premier military academy in India. Major Rajesh Singh was commissioned on 11 December 1993 from the Indian Military Academy. After graduating from the Academy, he joined the 2 Mech. Infantry of the Indian Army. He was posted in 18 Grenadiers at the time of Kargil War. Karan Nath is an Indian actor. He is best known for his role as the romantic hero in ''Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa'' in 2002. LOC Kargil
''LOC Kargil'' is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language historical war film based on the Kargil War fought between India and Pakistan, produced and directed by J. P. Dutta under his banner "J. P. Films". The film features an ensemble cast of Bollywood stars and music composed by Aadesh Shrivastava and Anu Malik, with the former composing the score and the latter composing the songs. The film is based on the Indian Army's successful Operation Vijay that was launched in May 1999 in the wake of the Pakistani intrusion and occupation of the strategic heights in the Kargil sector to flush out the Pakistani intruders from the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). The Pioneer (India)
''The Pioneer'' is an English-language daily newspaper in India. It is published from multiple locations in India, including Delhi. It is the second-oldest English-language newspaper in India still in circulation after ''The Times of India''. In 2010, ''The Pioneer'' launched its Hindi version in Lucknow. Battle Of Tololing
The Battle of Tololing was a pivotal battle in the Kargil War between India and troops from one full battalion of Pakistan’s Northern Light Infantry who were aided by Pakistani irregulars in 1999. Background The Tololing peak dominates over the Srinagar-Leh Highway ( NH 1D), which is a vital link. Peaks in Tololing include Point 5140 and Point 4875, 4590. Battle Units under the command of Maj Gen Mohinder Puri of the 8 Mountain Division were tasked with recapturing the positions held by the infiltrators. The battle lasted 32 days. Initially only units from the 121 Independent Infantry brigade under the command of Brig. O.P. Nandrajog was sent to evict the intruders. Dras (also spelt Drass, ISO transliteration: '), also known locally in Shina as Himababs, Hembabs, or Humas, is a town and hill station in Kargil district of the union territory of Ladakh in India.
