The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Vasantrao Chavan (15 August 1954 – 26 August 2024) was an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He was elected as an independent member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing Naigaon Assembly constituency in 2009. In May 2014, he was appointed to the Legislative Assembly's Public Accounts Committee. He joined the Indian National Congress party in September 2014 and was re-elected to the 13th Maharashtra Assembly as a Congress party member. 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election
The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority.
