Haryana Legislative Assembly
The Haryana Legislative Assembly (ISO: ''Hariyāṇā Vidhāna Sabhā'') is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Haryana. The seating of the assembly is at Chandigarh, the capital of the state. There are seats in the house filled by direct election using a single-member first-past-the-post voting system. History The body was founded in 1966, when the state was created from part of the state of Punjab, by the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966. The house initially had 54 seats, ten reserved for scheduled castes, this was increased to 81 seats in March 1967, and to 90 seats (including 17 reserved seats) in 1977. Rajinder Singh Joon (born 15 August 1956) is an Indian politician from Haryana. He is an MLA from Bahadurgarh Assembly constituency in Jhajjar district. He won the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election representing the Indian National Congress. Early life and education Singh is from Bahadurgarh, Haryana. His father Ch. Surajmal Joon was a former MLA from Bahadurgarh. He completed his B.A. in 1977 at Hindu College, Delhi which is affiliated with Delhi University. Career Singh won from Bahadurgarh Assembly constituency representing the Indian National Congress in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election. 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly Election
The 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections were held in Elections in Haryana, Haryana on 2024 elections in India, 5 October 2024 to elect all List of constituencies of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, 90 members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. The schedule of the election was announced by the Election Commission of India on 16 August 2024. The ballots were counted and the results were declared on 8 October 2024. Although the majority of exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party won a majority with 48 seats and secured victory for the third consecutive time, becoming the first party in the state's history to achieve this feat.
