Rajat Kumar Kar
Rajat Kumar Kar (2 October 1934 – 8 May 2022) was an Indian playwright, Jagannath Culture researcher, and Radio & TV commentator. He had written more than 600 plays for radio. He was the longest and oldest active commentator of the World Famous Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath on both TV and Radio for more than 60 years. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2021 for his eminent works in Odia literature. Cuttack District
Cuttack district is one of the 30 districts of Odisha state in India. It is located in the coastal part of the state and its administrative headquarters are located in the city of Cuttack. As of 2011 Census, after Ganjam district, Ganjam, it is the second most populous district of Odisha, with a population of 2,624,470. The name is an anglicized form of ''Kataka'' or ''Katak'' meaning Fort – referring to the Barabati Fort. The district is bisected by the river Mahanadi and its numerous distributaries and occupies a large portion of the river's delta. Sarat Kumar Kar
Sarat Kumar Kar () (5 September 1939 – 12 October 2020) was an Indian politician, writer, poet, and orator from the state of Odisha, India. He was a three-time member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and served as the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2004. Kar was also a Member of Parliament in the 6th Lok Sabha, representing the Cuttack constituency. He was a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) political party. He had a multifaceted career that spanned politics, literature, and cultural advocacy. Ratha Yatra (Puri)
The Ratha Yatra of Puri, also rendered as the Ratha Jatra () (, ), is considered the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival celebrated annually, on the bright half of the lunar month of Ashadha, Ashadh (June–July). The festival is held at the city of Puri, in the state of Odisha, India and associated with the deity Jagannath (a form of Vishnu or Krishna). During the festival, three deities (Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra) are drawn by a multitude of devotees in three massive, wooden chariots on ''bada danda'' (the grand avenue) to Gundicha Temple whereby they reside there for a week and then return to the Jagannath Temple, Puri, Jagnannath temple. Jagannath
Jagannath (; formerly ) is a Hindu deity worshipped in regional Hindu traditions in India as part of a triad along with (Krishna's) brother Balabhadra, and sister, Subhadra. Jagannath, within Odia Hinduism, is the supreme god, '' Purushottama'', and the '' Para Brahman''. To most Vaishnava Hindus, particularly the Krishnaites, Jagannath is a form of Krishna, sometimes as the avatar of Vishnu.
