Politics of Rajasthan is mainly dominated by two parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress. The current government in Rajasthan is that of the Indian National Congress and Ashok Gehlot is the Chief Minister. 2018 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Election
The Indian National Congress became the single largest party with 100 seats, short of majority by 1 seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 73 seats, much lower compared to the previous election in which it won an absolute majority of 163 seats. The Indian National Congress formed the government with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Background The tenure of Rajasthan assembly ended on 20 January 2019. The main political contenders are the BJP, INC, BSP and the RLP. Most of the bypolls preceding the election were won by the Indian National Congress. Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Rajasthan on 1 December 2013. Results were announced on 8 December. The incumbent ruling party Indian National Congress, led by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, lost the elections to Vasundhara Raje-led BJP, who was being touted as the next incumbent. Pre-poll surveys Election Polling was held on 1 December in 199 assembly seats out of 200 seats. Churu constituency polling was postponed to 13 December due to death of BSP candidate Jagdish Meghwal. Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs was used in 1 assembly seat in Rajasthan elections. There were 2,087 candidates including 166 women and one eunuch candidate. He represents the Rajakhera Assembly constituency in Dholpur district in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly as a member of the Indian National Congress. Dholpur District is a district of Rajasthan state in Northern India. The town of Dholpur is the district headquarters. Dholpur District is a part of Bharatpur Divisional Commissionerate.
