SV Raisting
The SV Raisting is a German association football club from the town of Raisting, Bavaria. The club's greatest success came in 2013, when it qualified for the southern division of the Bayernliga, the fifth tier of the German football league system. History SV Raisting, for the most of its history, has been a non-descript amateur side in local Bavarian football. The club was formed in 1924 as Sportabteilung Raisting as part of local club MTV Diessen. Playing only friendlies in the early year the club became independent in 1929 under its current name. Disbanded at the end of the Second World War SV Raisting reformed on 8 July 1946, and entered local football once more in the Zugspitze region. In the following decades the club fluctuated between the lowest division, the C-Klasse, and two levels higher, the A-Klasse. Raisting Earth Station
Raisting Earth Station (German: ''Erdfunkstelle Raisting'') is a satellite ground station near Raisting, Bavaria. The station was Germany's first commercial station for satellite communication and is still one of the largest ground stations in the world. History After examining many potential sites, the Deutsche Bundespost began construction of the first civil satellite ground station in Germany in 1963. Its construction allowed for satellite communications between Europe and North America for the first time. It was used to transmit, among other things, the Apollo 11 Moon Landing and the 1972 Munich Olympics. More recently the station was to have been used as a ground station for the European Student Moon Orbiter before the mission's cancellation. Weilheim-Schongau is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the south of Bavaria, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Landsberg, Starnberg, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Ostallgäu. Geography The district is located in the northern foothills of the Alps. The main rivers of the district are the Lech and the Ammer. The ''Ammersee'' and the ''Starnberger See'' are at the northern boundary of the district. The Bayernliga (English: Bavarian league) is the highest amateur football league and the second highest football league (under the Regionalliga Bayern) in the state of Bavaria (german: Bayern) and the Bavarian football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier. From the 2012–13 season onwards, the league has been divided once more into a northern and a southern division, having previously placed in single division format since 1963. Mering–Weilheim Railway
The Mering–Weilheim railway (German: ''Ammerseebahn'') is a 54 km long single-tracked main line in the provinces of Swabia and Upper Bavaria in southern Germany. It runs from Mering near Augsburg via Geltendorf to Weilheim and is listed by the Deutsche Bahn as Kursbuchstrecke 985. Construction The Mering–Geltendorf–Schondorf (29.77 km) and Weilheim–Dießen (13.07 km) sections were the first to be constructed. They were built by the Augsburg railway division of the Royal Bavarian State Railways and were completed simultaneously on 30 June 1898. The intervening 18.36 km section from Dießen to Schondorf was finished on 24 December 1898.
