Rainer Forss
Rainer Forss (20 October 1930 – 2 August 2005) was a Finnish professional football forward, manager and coach. He won full, Olympic and B caps for Finland at international level and was a member of Finland's 1952 Summer Olympics squad. In addition to playing 12 Suomensarja seasons, he scored 43 goals in 72 Mestaruussarja appearances. Personal life Forss is a member of a football family. His son ( Tero) and grandsons Marcus and Niclas are all involved in football. Finland National Football Team
The Finland national football team ( fi, Suomen jalkapallomaajoukkue, sv, Finlands fotbollslandslag) represents Finland in men's international football competitions and is controlled by the Football Association of Finland, the governing body for football in Finland, which was founded in 1907. The 1953 season was the 23rd completed season of Finnish Football League Championship, known as the Mestaruussarja. Overview The Mestaruussarja was administered by the Finnish Football Association and the competition's 1953 season was contested by 10 teams. Mestaruussarja (Championship series) was the top division of Finnish football from 1930 to 1989. It was replaced by Veikkausliiga in 1990. In 1930 league format was used for the first time to decide the Finnish champion. Before that from 1908 to 1929 the championship was decided with cup competition. The league was dominated by clubs from Helsinki, Turku and Vyborg. The first champion was HIFK Fotboll from Helsinki. In 1935 four best clubs were from Helsinki and in 1934 and 1936 top three clubs also came from Helsinki. From 1908 to 1940 the championship went outside Helsinki on only six occasions. Kuopio was the first inland city to get into the league when Pallotoverit were promoted in 1938. During World War II years the league was sometimes cut short, abandoned or decided with cup competition instead. In 1940s TUL clubs also participated.
