Rainbow Athletic Club is an Indian professional association football, football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, that competes in the Calcutta Football League, Calcutta Premier Division. The club was formerly known as Rainbow Athletic Club or simply Rainbow, and as NBP Rainbow Athletic Club due to past sponsorship ties. In 2018, Rainbow AC participated in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of the Indian football league system. In 2020, the club was acquired by the Indian conglomerate Aditya Group, following which it was officially renamed as Aditya School of Sports Rainbow Athletic Club, abbreviated as ASOS Rainbow AC. The Calcutta Football League (CFL) is a ladder-based football competition in the Indian state of West Bengal, organised by the Indian Football Association (WB) as part of the state leagues. It is the oldest football league in Asia. The CFL is divided into CFL Premier Division, CFL 1st Division, CFL 2nd Division, CFL 3rd Division, CFL 4th Division, CFL 5th Division A, and CFL 5th Division B with promotion and relegation between them. 2016 Calcutta Premier Division
The 2016 Calcutta Football League Premier Division was the 118th season of the CFL Premier Division, a state league within the Indian state of West Bengal. The league is divided into two groups – Group A and Group B. The Championship title is awarded only to the Group A winner, while four teams from Group A are relegated to Group B at the end of the season and 4 teams from Group B are simultaneously promoted to Group A for the next season. The fixtures of Group A kicked off on 27 July 2016, and of Group B on 16 July 2016. The I-League 2 is an Indian men's professional association football, football league. It is the 3rd tier of the Indian football league system, behind the Indian Super League and the I-League. It operates as a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League and the I-League 3.
