Kashmiri Pandits
The Kashmiri Pandits (also known as Kashmiri Brahmins) are a group of Kashmiri Hindus and a part of the larger Saraswat Brahmin community of India. They belong to the Pancha Gauda Brahmin group from the Kashmir Valley, a mountainous region located within the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiri Pandits are Hindu Kashmiris native to the Kashmir Valley, and the only remaining Hindu Kashmiris after the large-scale of conversion of the Valley's population to Islam during the medieval times. Prompted by the growth of Islamic militancy in the valley, large numbers left in the exodus of the 1990s. Even so, small numbers remain. Raina joined Delphi Information Systems, Inc. in 1997 as Vice President of Professional Services. In August 1999 he was promoted to the added title of President, having previously been named COO. Vinod Raina (died 12 September 2013) was an Indian educationist. He was a member of drafting of the Right to Education Act. Career Vinod Raina resigned from his job at Delhi University to work on education reforms in India. He was one of the co-founders of the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti(BGVS) and All-India People’s Science Network (AIPSN). He was a Homi Bhabha Fellow, a fellow of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, Asia Leadership Fellow, Japan, and an Honorary Fellow of the Indian Science Writers Association. Dr. Raina worked with the Bhopal Gas Disaster victims and the anti-Narmada dam campaign. Vijay Kumar Raina is an Indian geologist and glaciologist, and author of a controversial discussion paper from India's Ministry of Environment and Forests regarding Himalayan glaciers. He was formerly deputy director-general of the Geological Survey of India, and led two scientific expeditions conducted by the Indian Antarctic Program. Raina, was a senior army officer and a diplomat who served as the 9th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army between 1975 and 1978.
