''Rail Professional'' is a monthly UK rail news magazine covering the business side of rail transport in Great Britain. It is published 10 times a year by Rail Professional Ltd. Rail Professional also publishes an annual hardback guidebook titled "Rail Professional Industry Reference Book & Supply Chain Directory". As of 2024, the guidebook is in its tenth edition. These yearbooks provide up to date information on all the major train operating companies and light rail and tram networks across the country which includes route maps, key contacts, and serves as a one-stop shop for sourcing products and services from a rail supply chain of around 5,000 firms. In the railway system of Great Britain, a train operating company (TOC) is a railway undertaking operating passenger trains under the collective National Rail brand. TOCs have existed since the privatisation of the network under the Railways Act 1993. There are two types of TOC: most hold franchises let by the Department for Transport (DfT) through a tendering system, to operate services on certain routes for a specified duration, while a small number of open-access operators hold licences to provide supplementary services on chosen routes. GB Railfreight (GBRf) is a rail freight company in the United Kingdom. As of 2022, it is owned by the global investment company Infracapital, itself a subsidiary of M&G plc, a UK investment group. Keith Heller
Keith Louis Heller (born 3 April 1948) is a Canadian transport executive in the rail freight transport industry. In 2005 he was ranked 57 in the Power 100 listing published by '' Country Life'' magazine. Heller is notable for having run major rail freight providers in both North America and Europe. Heller was head of the Eastern Region of the Canadian National Railway, at the time the most successful privatised rail business in the world.
