Raia (village)
Raia () is a quaint village in the Salcete Tehsils of India, ''taluka'' of South Goa district, Goa state, India. It is located east from the district headquarters of Margao and from the state capital Panjim. Location Gogol (two kilometres), Margao (three kilometres), and Aquem Margao (three kilometres) are nearby areas. Raia is surrounded by Mormugao taluk towards the west, Quepem taluk towards its south, Ponda taluka towards the north. Raia village lies close to the villages of Loutulim, Camurlim, Rachol and Maina, Goa, Maina. It lies at the border of the North Goa District and the South Goa District. Ponda is North Goa District is just across Raia. Since it lies near the Arabian Sea, the weather can be humid for part of the year. Camurlim
Camurlim, also known as Ambora, is a village in Salcete taluka in Goa, India. It is situate about 45 km south of the lively city of Mapusa, well known for its weekly Friday market. Location Camurlim is north of Margao. It is located to the south-west of Raia and to the north-east of Loutolim, from the state capital Panaji. History Camurlim is associated with many stories that highlight its past glory. In one such tale, one part of the village, which was called Diullbhatta, was the designated meeting place of people from Salcete's 60 villages and 10 corporations. Salcette
Salcete or Salcette (Konkani: ''Saxtti''/''Xaxtti'') is a subdivision of the district of South Goa, in the state of Goa, situated by the west coast of India. The Sal River and its backwaters dominate the landscape of Salcete. Historically, the sixty-six settlements south of the Zuari River formed the original Salcette territory. Salcete forms a part of the bigger Konkan region that stretches along the western shoreline of peninsular India. Kadambas
The Kadamba dynasty were an ancient royal family from modern Karnataka, India, that ruled northern Karnataka and the Konkan from Banavasi in present-day Uttara Kannada, Uttara Kannada district in India. Eduardo Faleiro (born 30 August 1940) is an Indian politician, former advocate of Supreme Court of India, and former federal minister. In September 2006, he served as the commissioner for non-resident Indian affairs for the Congress Government of Goa. Early life Eduardo Faleiro was born on 30 August 1940 in Lisbon, Portugal, to Martinho Faleiro. Curtorim is a town in the Salcette taluka of South Goa district in Goa, India.It comes under Margao metropolitan region. Curtorim, a verdant agrarian village, known as the "granary of Salcete", is said to have got its name from either ' or ' since the agricultural village had ' (rooms) built on the river bank (') to store kharif and rabi crops.
