Rahsaan Thomas
Rahsaan Thomas (born September 22, 1970) is an American-born journalist, known as "New York" on the podcast Ear Hustle. Thomas is the Executive Director of Empowerment Avenue, an organization that works to develop the careers of incarcerated writers, artists, journalists, and filmmakers pre-entry. Early life Thomas was raised in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He has two brothers. His mother, Jacqueline, completed her bachelor's degree in sociology and was a bureau chief at Rikers Island. His father was incarcerated before committing suicide while Thomas was a teenager. Thomas attended high school in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Detroit. Career While incarcerated at the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, Thomas gained recognition through his work as co-host of Ear Hustle podcast. He also developed a career as a writer and journalist. Ear Hustle
''Ear Hustle'' is a non-fiction podcast about prison life and life after incarceration created by Earlonne Woods and Antwan Williams, both formerly incarcerated, and Nigel Poor, an artist who volunteers at San Quentin State Prison. In 2016, it was selected by the Radiotopia network as the winner of its Podquest competition, and the following year released its first season. It was the first podcast to be entirely created and produced inside a prison. In 2018, California governor Jerry Brown commuted Earlonne Woods' sentence, citing ''Ear Hustle'' as a significant contributor to his reformation as an American citizen. 2020 California Proposition 17
The 2020 California Proposition 17 is a ballot measure that appeared on the ballot in the 2020 California elections on November 3. Prop 17 amended the Constitution of California to allow people who are on parole to vote. Due to the passage of this proposition, more than 50,000 people in California who are currently on parole and have completed their prison sentence are now eligible to vote and to run for public office. This proposition also provides that all those on parole in the future will be allowed to vote and run for public office as well. Francois Botha
Francois "Frans" Botha (born 28 September 1968) is a South African former professional boxer and kickboxer. He competed in boxing from 1990 to 2014, and is perhaps best known for winning the IBF heavyweight title against Axel Schulz in 1995, but was later stripped after failing a drug test. He later challenged twice for world heavyweight titles in 2000 and 2002. Shannon Briggs (born December 4, 1971) is an American former professional boxer who competed between 1992 and 2016. He held the lineal heavyweight title from 1997 to 1998, and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight title from 2006 to 2007. The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in San Francisco. The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.
