Ragnarök Festival
Ragnarök Festival is a pagan metal festival held annually in Germany since 2004 founded by Ivo Raab. It started out as a small, one-night festival with only regional bands in the town hall of Hollfeld. In 2005 it was decided to go for a festival featuring mostly Viking and pagan metal with the booking of bands like Månegarm, Menhir, Eisregen and Equilibrium. From 2006 on the festival took place in the significantly bigger town hall of Lichtenfels, Bavaria. History The Ragnarök Metal Festival was founded by Ivo Raab in 2004. The festival's first edition featured seven bands, mostly death metal, and about 120 visitors. It did not pay off, but Raab decided to give it another try and organized it again in 2005. That year the line-up was specialized on Viking and pagan metal, and better-known bands were signed. Lichtenfels, Bavaria
Lichtenfels is a town in the Upper Franconian region of Bavaria, Germany, the administrative seat of Lichtenfels district. It is chiefly known as the German "Basket City". Geography It is situated on the upper course of the river Main, about southeast of Coburg, and northeast of Bamberg. The hilly landscape is called ''Gottesgarten am Obermain'' ("God's garden on the upper Main"), referring to the Basilica of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and Banz Abbey. Carpathian Forest
Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band formed by Nattefrost and Nordavind in 1992. History In late 1990, the band originally started under the name Enthrone by Nattefrost (then bearing the pseudonym Lord Nosferatu) and Nordavind (who used the pseudonym Lord Karnstein). Together they produced a self-released demo tape, ''Black Winds'', in 1991. In 1992, Enthrone changed its name to "Carpathian Forest", and Lord Blackmangler and Damnatus joined their line-up. As a quartet they self-released three demo tapes: ''Rehearsal Outtake'', ''Bloodlust and Perversion'' (both in 1992) and ''Journey Through the Cold Moors of Svarttjern'' (in 1993). However, Damnatus and Lord Blackmangler left afterwards, and Carpathian Forest became once more a duo. Ava Inferi
Ava Inferi was a musical group formed in Almada, Portugal, by Norwegian guitarist and songwriter Rune Eriksen (a.k.a. Blasphemer, Mayhem). Their debut album, '' Burdens'', was released in January 2006. In the spring of 2007, vocalist Carmen Simões laid vocals on the re-recording of '' Under Satanæ'' by Moonspell. In October 2007, the band released their second studio album, called '' The Silhouette''. In May 2009, the band released their third album, '' Blood of Bacchus''. In February 2011, the band released their fourth studio album, entitled ''Onyx''. Rune Eriksen announced the end of Ava Inferi on 23 May 2013. Imperium Dekadenz is a German black metal band formed in 2004. The band name is inspired by the 1979 film Caligula. The band members were fascinated by the violence and decadence portrayed in the film, as well as the pride in the Roman Empire it portrayed. History Pascal "Vespasian" Vannier and Christian "Horaz" Jakob met in 2004 when Vespasian was looking for a ride to Wacken and Horaz offered him a seat in his car. During the car ride, Horaz played Vespasian from his demo tape Ax and the idea of making music together came up. Arkona (russian: Аркона) is a Russian folk metal band. Their lyrics are heavily influenced by Russian folklore and Slavic mythology, and their music incorporates several traditional Russian musical instruments. The name of the band "Arkona" refers to the last Pre-Christianized Slavic city-castle. Adorned Brood is a German folk black metal band from Neuss, Germany. History (1993–2006) After the foundation in 1993, Adorned Brood recorded two demo tapes. They signed a contract to German music label Folter Records. They recorded their first studio album '' Hiltia'' in 1996. They recorded a new album, called '' Wigand'', in 1998. Only 1,000 copies of each album were released. They signed a contract with Moonstorm Records. Their third album, ''Asgard'', was released in 2000.
