Raga Bhopali
Bhoopali, also known as ''Bhoop'', ''Bhopali,'' or ''Bhupali'', is a Hindustani classical raga. Bhupālī, is a raag in Kalyan Thaat. It is a pentatonic scale (uses 5 notes in ascending and descending scale). Most of the songs in this raga are based on Bhakti rasa. Since it uses 5 notes, belongs to the "Audav jaati" of ragas. The same raga in Carnatic music is known as Mohanam. Raga Bhoopali, Raga Yaman, and Raga Bhairav tend to be the three basic ragas of Hindustani music, learned first by its students. Theory Karhade (2011) explains that raga Bhopali consists of just 5 notes - सा रे ग प ध (sa, re, ga, pa and dha). It does not use Ma (also called Madhyam) and Ni (also called Nishadh). It is said that the absence of Ni (representative of physical pleasure) and Ma (representative of loving) means this raga is about non-attachment. Kalyan (thaat)
Kalyan () is one of the ten basic Thaats of the Hindustani music, Hindustani classical music of the Indian subcontinent. It is also the name of a raga, Raag (now more popularly known as Yaman (raga), Raag Yaman) within this very Thaat. Description The Kalyan Thaat consists of an important group of early afternoon, late evening, early night, and early morning ragas. Characterised by the Teevr Madhyam (M') in the stead of the standard Madhyam, Shuddh Madhyam of the Bilaval (thaat), Bilawal Thaat, the name of this Thaat literally means good luck/ fortune (कल्याण). Raags of this Thaat are considered to be a blessing-seeking and soothing. As a result, they are often performed in the evening or at the beginning of a concert. Asthayi
Sthayi or Asthaayi is an initial phrase or line of a fixed, melodic composition in Hindustani music. It is a way of having the parts of a composition. Amrapali (film)
Amrapali is a 1966 historical Hindi film directed by Lekh Tandon, starring Sunil Dutt and Vyjayanthimala as leads. The film's music was by Shankar–Jaikishan. It was based on the life of Amrapali ( Ambapali), the '' nagarvadhu'' (courtesan) of Vaishali in present-day Bihar, the capital of the Licchavi republic in ancient India around 500 BC, and Ajatashatru, the Haryanka emperor of the Magadha empire, who falls in love with her. Although he destroys Vaishali to get her, she has been transformed by her encounter with Gautama Buddha in the meantime, of whom she becomes a disciple and an Arahant. Her story is mentioned in old Pali texts and Buddhist traditions. The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 39th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. ''Sehra'' (Desert) is a 1963 Hindi romantic family drama film directed by V. Shantaram, who also wrote the screenplay. The story and dialogue writer was Shams Lucknowi.
