Raduškevičius Palace
The Raduškevičius Palace is a building in Vilnius, Kalvarijų st. 1. Currently it is headquarters of the Lithuanian Union of Architects. History In 1894–1897, the Gothic Revival architecture, Neo-Gothic Palace was built by famous doctor Hilary Raduszkiewicz based on a project by Julian Januszewski. In 1962–1963 the western and south-western hulls were demolished. From 2004 it is the headquarter of the Lithuanian Union of Architects.. In 2013, the remaining part of the Palace was reconstructed. The Lithuanian Union of Architects () is an independent organization with 1079 members (2008) headquartered in Vilnius. It was founded in 1924 in Kaunas. It is a member of the International Union of Architects since 1993. Its board of directors has 6 members and a president who are elected every three years during the general assembly. History The Lithuanian Union of Architects was founded in Kaunas in 1924 under the original name of the Lithuanian Union of Engineers and Architects. In 1940, the union had to change its name to the Lithuanian Union of Soviet Architects, and in 1954 it was renamed the Lithuanian SSR Union of Architects. In that same year, the union moved to Vilnius. Since 1989, it has been known by its current name, the Lithuanian Union of Architects. Gothic Revival Architecture
Gothic Revival (also referred to as Victorian Gothic or neo-Gothic) is an Architectural style, architectural movement that after a gradual build-up beginning in the second half of the 17th century became a widespread movement in the first half of the 19th century, mostly in England. Increasingly serious and learned admirers sought to revive medieval Gothic architecture, intending to complement or even supersede the Neoclassical architecture, neoclassical styles prevalent at the time. Gothic Revival draws upon features of medieval examples, including decorative patterns, finials, lancet windows, and hood moulds.
