Radość, Warsaw
Radość is an Districts and neighbourhoods of Warsaw, administrative neighbourhood and a City Information System of Warsaw, City Information System area, in Warsaw, Poland, located within the district of Wawer. It is a residential area of single-family housing. In the 15th century, in the area were founded the villages of Borków, Warsaw, Borków, , and . At the end of the 19th century, near Zbójna Góra was founded a small holiday village of Radość, and in the early 20th century, there was also established . In 1951, the area was incorporated into Warsaw. Etymology The name of the neighbourhood comes from Polish language, Polish word ''radość'', meaning ''joy''. When originally founded, in the late 19th century, it was briefly known as Maciorowe Bagno, with the name coming from a nearby peatland to the east with the same name. Antoni Fertner
Antoni Fertner (23 May 1874 – 16 April 1959) was a Polish stage actor (graduated from drama school in 1895) and one of the earliest Polish film actors. His first film, ''Antoś pierwszy raz w Warszawie'' (''Antoś for the First Time in Warsaw'') premiered October 22, 1908. It is the earliest surviving Polish feature film and considered to be the founding date of Polish Film. He is considered to be the first recognizable star of Polish Cinema. His favorite brand of comedy was farce, which with the help of musical comedy revived his career in the 1930s. Besides his film and stage career, his favorite hobby was bicycling. Early career Antoni Fertner had a prominent stage career before film, performing in many theaters and cabaret's. Polish Workers' Party
The Polish Workers' Party (, PPR) was a communist party in Poland from 1942 to 1948. It was founded as a reconstitution of the Communist Party of Poland (KPP) and merged with the Polish Socialist Party (PPS) in 1948 to form the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR). From the end of World War II the PPR led Poland, with the Soviet Union exercising moderate influence. During the PPR years, the centers of opposition activity were largely diminished, and a socialist system was established in the country. Arriving from the Soviet Union, a group of Polish communists was parachuted into occupied Poland in December 1941. With Joseph Stalin's permission, in January 1942 they established the Polish Workers' Party, a new communist party.
