Radiotelevisão Comercial
Radiotelevisão Comercial (RTC) was the commercial arm of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP), active from 1982 to 2002. Its primary activity was the exploitation of commercial advertising slots on RTP's two channels, but was also responsible for sales of merchandise from its programs. It shut down as part of a corporate restructuring. History RTP signed a commercial contract with Movierecord Portuguesa SARL, subsidiary of the Spanish company of the same name, in September 1962. After the return to democracy in 1975, RTP was nationalized and Movierecord's role in RTP's advertising sales was limited from January 1976, becoming a mere service provider. Per RTP's 1977 Annual Report, the company's financial situation was now in the red (RTP was Movierecord Portuguesa's only creditor and user), and had to be replaced by a new company using much of its existing infrastructure. Break Bumper
In broadcasting, a commercial bumper, ident bumper, or break-bumper (often shortened to bump) is a brief announcement, usually two to fifteen seconds in length that can contain a voice over, placed between a pause in the program and its commercial break, and vice versa. The host, the program announcer, or a continuity announcer states the title (if any) of the presentation, the name of the program, and the broadcast or cable network, though not necessarily in that order. On children's television networks, they are sometimes called external eyecatches due to the resemblance of internal eyecatches in anime and there is usually no voice over, but some bumpers do feature one. ''Público'' (; English: ''Public'') is a Portuguese language, Portuguese daily national newspaper of record published in Lisbon, Portugal. History and profile ''Público'' was first published on 5 March 1990. The paper was founded by Sonae and is owned by the Sonae group. In 1992 Italian media company Repubblica International Holding SA, a subsidiary of Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso, acquired 16.75% of the paper. Television In Portugal
Television in Portugal was introduced in 1956 (test broadcasts) by Radiotelevisão Portuguesa (now named Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), which held the nationwide television monopoly until late 1992. Regular broadcasting was introduced on March 7, 1957. Colour transmissions were introduced on March 10, 1980. Digital terrestrial television (DTT) was introduced at a very late stage when compared to other countries in Europe and with limited channels. According to the European Audiovisual Observatory it occupies the last place out of the 34 European countries with the weakest offer on digital terrestrial television. Due to this, most Portuguese are subscribers of cable (HFC) or IPTV (DSL or FTTH) platforms, in percentages higher than in the rest of Europe and these platforms are well developed with many channels.
