Radio Luxembourg (DRM)
Radio Luxembourg is a commercial radio station on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM). Begun in 2005, it has broadcast in many languages in conjunction with a television service operated from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. History Radio Luxembourg in English from 1933 to 1939 and from 1946 to 1992 was an important forerunner of modern commercial radio in the United Kingdom. It was an effective way to advertise products by circumventing British broadcasting restrictions that were in place at the time. The English-language station, which broadcast from the Grand Duchy, closed down at the end of 1992. DRM service In 2005, the parent RTL company stated that the AM transmissions would not resume but that a full-time English service would begin on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM). Digital Radio Mondiale
Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM; ''mondiale'' being Italian and French for "worldwide") is a set of digital audio broadcasting technologies designed to work over the bands currently used for analogue radio broadcasting including AM broadcasting—particularly shortwave—and FM broadcasting. DRM is more spectrally efficient than AM and FM, allowing more stations, at higher quality, into a given amount of bandwidth, using xHE-AAC audio coding format. Various other MPEG-4 and Opus codecs are also compatible, but the standard now specifies xHE-AAC. Digital Radio Mondiale is also the name of the international non-profit consortium that has designed the platform and is now promoting its introduction. David William Christian (born May 12, 1959) is an American former professional ice hockey forward. He played on the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team that won the gold medal during the 1980 Winter Olympics. Additionally he played for five National Hockey League teams over a 15-season career. Amateur career Christian was born in Warroad, Minnesota, and grew up playing hockey, gridiron football, and baseball, as well as competing on the track and field team, for Warroad High School. Benny Brown
Benny Brown (''Benjamin Gene Brown;'' born September 27, 1953 San Francisco, California – February 1, 1996 Ontario, California) was an Olympic gold-medal winner in the 1976 4x400 Men's Relay running the second leg. He teamed with Herman Frazier, Fred Newhouse and Maxie Parks. Previously he had finished in 6th place at 440 yards in a very tight finish at the 1971 CIF California State Meet while running for the now closed Sunnyvale High School (California). Next he attended UCLA, winning the 1975 NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship at 440 yards, before finishing fourth in the United States Olympic Trials (track and field) which qualified him to run on the relay team. Enda Caldwell
Enda Caldwell is an Irish radio personality and voice actor. As of 2022, he was the "drivetime host" at New York's EDM station, Pulse 87. Caldwell has also worked at radio stations elsewhere in the world, including the DRM station Radio Luxembourg, Riviera Radio, Today FM and Atlantic 252. Career Originally from Navan in Ireland, Caldwell's media career began at Atlantic 252 as an assistant to Tony West. His broadcasting career began with a Louth-based pirate radio station, Kiss FM, in Dundalk. In 1999 he worked at Radio Limerick One. Caldwell later worked at Tipp FM in County Tipperary, WLR FM in Waterford, and South East Radio in Wexford, before moving to Kiss 106 in Northern Ireland.
