Radio Free Brooklyn (RFB) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates a freeform internet radio station headquartered at 199 Cook Street in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. The station currently offers 78 original radio programs produced by members of the organization, including 63 weekly live broadcasts originating from their Brooklyn studio. The station also airs two syndicated programs: Democracy Now! and The BradCast. Danielle "Danz" Johnson (born February 20, 1989), known professionally as Danz CM and formerly Computer Magic, is an American musician and producer based in New York City. She is a singer, songwriter, composer, music producer, DJ, and the founder of the music project Synth History and the indie record label Channel 9 Records. She also composes music for commercials, especially for Japanese brands. Battles (band)
Battles is an American experimental rock group, founded in 2002 in New York City by Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress). The current line-up is a duo, composed of guitarist/keyboardist Williams and drummer John Stanier (formerly of Helmet, Tomahawk and The Mark of Cain). Former members include composer/vocalist Tyondai Braxton and guitarist/bassist Dave Konopka. Irka Mateo is a Taino Dominican singer-songwriter and world music artist. Career Her artistic sensibility incubated in Spain, France, Brazil, Canada, the United States and her native Dominican Republic. In the late 1970s and early 1980s she lived in Europe (Spain and France) where she immersed herself in the emerging world music scene. In the late 1980s she moved to Canada, where she worked with the best artists in that country performing regularly at the Montreal Jazz Festival and other events and venues. Soul Inscribed is an American hip hop–fusion band and Beatbox crew from New York City. Formation Soul Inscribed was formed by Baba Israel, who was raised in NYC by parents who were core members of "The Living Theater". He was the co-founder of the Australian hip hop crew Metabass'n'Breath. In 2000 he befriended and began working with future bandmate Yako 440, while on tour with DJ Logic. Baba and Yako then began to work on and release albums together which include, Force of Life, Beatbox Dub Poetics, and Highest Degree. Rubblebucket is an American art-pop and indie-rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The primary members are musical couple (now separated) Annakalmia Traver and Alex Toth. Formation Alex Toth (trumpet, band leader) and Kalmia Traver (vocals, saxophone) first met at the University of Vermont where they were both enrolled as music majors. Upon graduating in 2006, they began touring the United States as members of different projects.
