Radha Krishna Patra
Radha Krishna Patra (24 November 1942—28 January 2015) is an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court. Career Patra was enrolled as an advocate in 1966 and started practice in the Orissa High Court on Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Constitutional and Taxation matters. He served as Standing Counsel in Orissa High Court since 1974. Patra worked there as a Government advocate. On 22 June 1992 he was appointed an Additional Judge of Orissa High Court. He was elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court on 9 July 2003 and retired on 23 November 2004. After the retirement Justice Patra was appointed the Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission. Sikkim High Court
The Sikkim High Court is the High Court of the Indian state of Sikkim. The history of the court can be traced back to 1955, when the High Court of Judicature (Jurisdiction and Powers) Proclamation, 1955 was issued to establish a High Court in Sikkim. Upon merger, Sikkim became the 22nd State of India. Under Clause ''(i) of Article 371F'', the High Court functioning immediately prior to the date of merger became the High Court for the State of Sikkim under the Constitution like any other High Court in the country. It was established in 1975. The seat of the court is at Gangtok, the administrative capital of the state. With a sanctioned court strength of 3 judges, the Sikkim High Court is the smallest High Court of India. Orissa High Court
The Orissa High Court is the High Court for the Indian state of Odisha. The then Bengal Presidency was a vast province including present day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and West Bengal. It was difficult to administratively manage such a vast area, inhabited by people speaking in different languages and having different traditions. Administrative exigencies required separation of such areas which originally did not from part of Bengal. So, new province of Bihar and Orissa was formed on 22 March 1912. However, the said new province of Bihar and Bihar and Orissa was under the jurisdiction of Calcutta High Court. On 9 February 1916, in exercise of the powers under Section 113 of the Government of India Act, 1915, the King of England issued letters of patent constituting High Court of Patna. Odisha Human Rights commission was constituted on 27 January 2000 via home department notification No. 5144 Dt: 27.8.2000. However, it became formally operational on 11 July 2003 with the appointment of Justice D. P. Mohapatra, a former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India joined as its first chairperson of the commission via notification No. 8438 Dt: 24.6.2003.
