Zeeland (; ), historically known in English by the Endonym and exonym, exonym Zealand, is the westernmost and least populous province of the Netherlands. Annuska Johanna Maria 'Anouska' van der Zee (born 5 April 1976 in Utrecht) is a retired Dutch racing cyclist. She participated both on track and at the road. Van der Zee represented the Netherlands at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens where she took part in the road race, but did not reach the finish. After the Olympics she ended her career. Katherine (Katey) Bates (born 18 May 1982 in Sydney) is an Australian former track and road cyclist. A multiple national champion, Bates rode as a professional since 2002. Katey's career highlights included Australian Road Race Champion in 2006, World Points Race Champion in 2007 and Commonwealth Games champion in 2002 and 2006. Loes Gunnewijk (born 27 November 1980 in Groenlo) is a Dutch former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2004 and 2015. Gunnewijk was a member of the Dutch national team together with Ellen van Dijk, Marianne Vos and Annemiek van Vleuten in the road race at the 2012 Summer Olympics where Vos won the gold medal. Gunnewijk announced her retirement from the sport in May 2015, subsequently completing the Union Cycliste Internationale's Sports Directors Diploma course in November 2015. Between May and the end of 2016, Gunnewijk joined her old cycling team as a trainee directeur sportif. Maria Wilhelmina Johanna "Mirjam" Melchers-Van Poppel (born 26 September 1975 in Arnhem, Gelderland) is a female former racing cyclist from the Netherlands, married to former sprinter Jean-Paul van Poppel. She was one of the leading cyclists in the world, having held the UCI number one ranking as well as winning highly rated races. She was a one-day specialist but has managed smaller stage races. In 2003, she won the GP Feminas Castilla y Leon round of the World Cup and finished third overall in the series behind Nicole Cooke and German sprinter Regina Schleicher. Melchers also finished first in the Damesronde van Drenthe and the Emakumeen Bira, before bringing her season to a close with a silver medal at the world championship road race in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
