RX-78-2 Gundam
The is a fictional piloted robot (mecha), introduced in 1979 in Yoshiyuki Tomino's and Sunrise (company), Sunrise's anime series ''Mobile Suit Gundam''. In the series, it is a prototype weapon for the Earth Federation when it falls into the hands of Amuro Ray, the son of its designer in story (Tem Ray), who goes on to pilot it in the Earth Federation's war against the Principality of Zeon. As the success of the series began the ''Gundam'' franchise, the robot's design was the first of many variations in subsequent works. The design appearing in ''Mobile Suit Gundam'' serves as the symbol of the ''Gundam'' franchise and sparked the creation of its multiple sequels and spinoffs; most future Gundams piloted by the protagonists use the RX-78-2's color scheme and general shape. , also retrospectively known as ''First Gundam'', ''Gundam 0079'' or simply ''Gundam '79'', is a Japanese anime television series produced by Nippon Sunrise. Created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, it premiered in Japan on Nagoya Broadcasting Network and its affiliated ANN stations on April 7, 1979, and lasted until January 26, 1980, spanning 43 episodes. Helium-3 Propulsion
A fusion rocket is a theoretical design for a rocket driven by fusion propulsion that could provide efficient and sustained acceleration in space without the need to carry a large fuel supply. The design requires fusion power technology beyond current capabilities, and much larger and more complex rockets. Fusion nuclear pulse propulsion is one approach to using nuclear fusion energy to provide propulsion. Fusion's main advantage is its very high specific impulse, while its main disadvantage is the (likely) large mass of the reactor. A fusion rocket may produce less radiation than a fission rocket, reducing the shielding mass needed. The simplest way of building a fusion rocket is to use hydrogen bombs as proposed in Project Orion, but such a spacecraft would be massive and the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty prohibits the use of such bombs. Ikuto Yamashita
is a Japanese manga artist and designer from Gifu Prefecture. He is currently based in and continuing to live in Gifu Prefecture. Overview Yamashita was born in the Gifu Prefecture and is a graduate of the Nagoya University of Arts. His representative work in manga is "Dark Whisper" (serialized in Dengeki Daioh). Ken Okuyama
is a Japanese industrial designer. He is the owner of the Ken Okuyama Design company. Okuyama formerly worked for Pininfarina, designing and supervising projects such as the Enzo Ferrari and Ferrari P4/5. Career Okuyama graduated in 1986 from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. For the next three years he was a visiting professor at Tohoku University of Art and Design. In 1991, he returned to teach part-time at the Art Center College of Design. Between 2000 and 2004, he was Chair of the Transportation Design Department at the college, but in 2004 he was offered a job at Pininfarina. Okuyama worked for General Motors and Porsche, helping design the new generation of the Porsche 911 (aka 996) as well as the Boxster. Gundam Evolve
, also known as ''Mobile Suit Gundam Evolve'', is a series of promotional short films set in the different timelines of the ''Gundam'' series. Originally there were only five ''Evolve'' episodes, produced from 2001 to 2003, Bandai created ten more ''Evolve'' episodes from 2004 to 2007. While the first two episodes took place in the Universal Century, some of the later clips also showed Gundams from the other timelines. The clips show alternative scenes, side-stories or omakes for fans. The clips feature a mix of animation media which vary from traditional animation to 3D rendering to cel-shaded animation. The target is to show the Gundams and other mobile suits in high-quality CGI. Hajime Katoki
is a Japanese mecha designer. A member of the studio Sunrise, he worked on the ''Gundam'' series as well as his work on video games, such as the '' Virtual On'' series and '' Policenauts''. Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
is the third installment in Sunrise's long running '' Gundam'' franchise and the last TV series in the franchise released in Japan's Shōwa period. A direct follow up to '' Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam'', it is directed and written by Yoshiyuki Tomino, and he assembled a new team consisting of character designer Hiroyuki Kitazume, who had been one of ''Zeta Gundam''s animation directors, and mechanical designers Makoto Kobayashi, Yutaka Izubuchi and Mika Akitaka. is a 13-episode anime OVA series set in the Gundam universe. The first volume containing two 30-minute episodes was released in Japan on May 23, 1991. Subsequent volumes, containing one 30-minute episode each, followed every one or two months; the final volume went on sale on September 24, 1992. The series was directed by Mitsuko Kase (episodes 1–7) and Takashi Imanishi (episodes 8–13). A movie compilation, also directed by Imanishi was released in Japan on August 29, 1992, a month before the final OVA volume went on sale. The characters were designed by Toshihiro Kawamoto.
