RTÉ Kids
RTÉ Kids (formerly TRTÉ) is an Irish children's television block broadcast by RTÉ2, produced by the RTÉ Young People's Programming division. First replacing ''The Den (TV programme), The Den'' in 2010, the block broadcasts programmes targeting viewers 7–12 years of age; it was accompanied by RTÉjr, which targeted younger audiences. In late 2016, significant cutbacks drove RTÉ Young People's Programming to downsize its operations, including ending in-house production of children's programmes (relying exclusively on commissions from outside producers), and programmes targeting teenagers. In 2017, RTÉ moved 13-15 year-olds content online. Two tube (the teenage block) was dropped and TRTÉ targeted 7-12 year-olds. The block was rebranded on December 6, 2024 as RTÉ Kids, retiring the TRTÉ brand name that was slowly being phased out from RTÉ2 over the previous five years. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. RTÉ Young People's Programming
RTÉ Young People's Programming (), also known as RTÉ Kids, is a division of Raidió Teilifís Éireann and provides a range of national and international children's programming for RTÉ television, radio and online and also for the independent Irish language broadcaster TG4. It broadcasts in English and Irish. The division is based at the RTÉ Television Centre in Donnybrook, Dublin. The department covers both Radio, Online and Television output for young people across RTÉ. Up to 2016 RTÉ's Young People's Programming Department produced and commissioned content. Independent productions consists largely of animations, live action and entertainment programming, while much of the RTÉ's own produced children's content was studio based.
