Rö Church
Rö Church () is a medieval Lutheran church in the Archdiocese of Uppsala in Stockholm County, Sweden. History The first church on the site was probably a wooden church. It was replaced with the presently visible stone church during the second half of the 13th century, dedicated to Saint Olaf. Technical details indicate that the masons may have come from Gotland. The church received internal brick vaults circa 1475, decorated with frescos. The church was damaged by fire during the 16th or 17th century and in connection with the restoration, two rough buttresses were added externally. The church suffered a period of neglect during the 17th and early 18th centuries but was renovated in 1747, when the choir was rebuilt. Architecture The church is a single-nave Gothic church built by roughly hewn stones and some details in brick. It retains much of its original medieval atmosphere despite later reconstructions. The interior is dominated by the decorated medieval brick vaults. The f ...

Ro Language
Ro is an a priori constructed language created by Rev. Edward Powell Foster beginning in 1904. History Rev. Edward Powell Foster worked on his "international language" for 25 years before compiling a dictionary which initially had 257 pages with more than 6,000 words. The local newspaper in Newark, Ohio, published a mention of Foster visiting the city in 1929 to deliver copies of his "Ro" dictionary. In the January 23, 1929, issue of ''The Evening Star'' newspaper, in the "Answers to Questions" column, and R.S. submitted the question "Is there a Ro dictionary?" The column editor, Frederic J. Haskin responded, "A dictionary of about 12,000 words in the Ro language was published in 1928. The first publication concerning Ro was distributed in 1906." The January 25, 1922, issue of ''The Arizona Republican'' published an article entitle "Made-to-Order Language" which discussed "Ro" specifically; however, the article also states "We have received some literature relative to the 'Ro' ...

Ro (video Game)
''Ro'' is a puzzle game first developed for the Qualcomm Brew development platform in 2006 and for the iPhone platform in 2008. History Ro was initially created as part of a larger unpublished FMV game titled, "Red Sky", which was proposed to Trilobyte Inc in 1996. It was intended to be a puzzle "Lock" mechanism for doors, safes, and other locking devices. "Rotating Off-Centers" was the working title of the game for several years, hence "RO" as a name. Ro was designed with the casual gamer in mind, even before casual games became a genre. As it was originally intended to be part of a larger game, it needed to be challenging, yet simple enough to solve quickly, without destroying the larger gameplay. Ro for the iPhone has evolved to a game that can stand on its own, with Twenty (20) increasingly challenging levels. Gameplay The objective of this game is to realign a scrambled image by rotating the rings. Each selected ring will rotate either 90 or 180 degrees. In doing so, ...

Ro (pharaoh)
Iry-Hor (or Ro; ) was a predynastic pharaoh of Upper Egypt during the 32nd century BC. Excavations at Abydos in the 1980s and 1990s and the discovery in 2012 of an inscription of Iry-Hor in Sinai confirmed his existence. Iry-Hor is the earliest ruler of Egypt known by name and is sometimes cited as the earliest-living historical person known by name. Name Iry-Hor's name is written with the Horus falcon hieroglyph ( Gardiner sign G5) above a mouth hieroglyph (Gardiner D21). While the modern reading of the name is "Iry-Hor", Flinders Petrie, who discovered and excavated Iry-Hor's tomb at the end of the 19th century, read it "Ro", which was the usual reading of the mouth hieroglyph at the time. Given the archaic nature of the name, the translation proved difficult and, in the absence of a better alternative, Ludwig D. Morenz proposed that the literal translation be retained, giving "Horus mouth".Ludwig D. Morenz: ''Bildbuchstaben und symbolische Zeichen'', p. 88 In the 1990s, ...
