RMIT Design Hub
The RMIT Design Hub is a design hub that houses research, archive, exhibition, and studio space of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. Completed in May 2012, the Design Hub was designed by Sean Godsell Architects in association with Peddle Thorp Architects. The Design Hub is located on the historic Carlton & United Breweries site. The building is featured prominently in the science fiction film ''Predestination''. Description One of the unusual features of the facade of the Design Hub is that it has the capability of collecting solar energy throughout most of the day, as the surface is covered in operable disks. Although, as of 2013, there are no solar panels installed, it has the capability to accommodate this technology in the near future with its facade system. International Architecture Awards
The Chicago Athenaeum is a private museum of architecture and design, based in Galena, Illinois. The museum focuses on the art of design in all areas of the discipline: architecture, industrial and product design, graphics, landscape architecture, and urban planning. Among its goals is to advance public education on how design can positively impact the human environment. The museum awards numerous prizes for architecture and design. Hot-dip galvanization is a form of galvanization. It is the process of coating iron and steel with zinc, which alloys with the surface of the base metal when immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of around . Shrine Of Remembrance
The Shrine of Remembrance (commonly referred to as The Shrine) is a war memorial in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in Kings Domain on St Kilda Road. It was built to honour the men and women of Victoria who served in World War I, but now functions as a memorial to all Australians who have served in any war. It is a site of annual observances for Anzac Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November), and is one of the largest war memorials in Australia. Designed by architects Phillip Hudson and James Wardrop, both World War I veterans, the Shrine is in classical style, based on the Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus and the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
