RAI Radio2
Rai Radio 2 is an Italian radio channel operated by the state-owned public broadcasting, public-broadcasting organization RAI and specializing in talk radio, talk programmes and popular music. History The origins of the channel can be traced back to 21 March 1938, when the Ente Italiano per le Audizioni Radiofoniche, EIAR – which was to become Radio Audizioni Italiane (RAI) in 1944 – began transmitting a second, separately programmed radio service in major cities. Following the end of World War II and reconstruction and improvement of the surviving transmitter network, radio broadcasting was reorganized (with effect from 3 November 1946) to provide two national channels covering most of the country. The first channel was known as the ''Rete Azzurra'' (blue network) and the second as the ''Rete Rossa'' (red network). Rai Teche is a company that manages all archived material that has been produced and broadcast by Italian national public broadcaster RAI throughout its history. History The company, originally called ''Teche e servizi tematici/educativi RAI'', was formed in 1995 to categorise and preserve all materials documenting the history of Italian television from over 20 different channels. In 1999, the old databases were merged and a multimedia catalogue of all broadcasts from the three main channels was published online, along with more than 300,000 hours of historical TV material, prior to the launch of the online radio station in 2000. Thematic channels were also introduced on digital terrestrial television, with access to the catalogue being limited to those within the company. Cable radio is radio broadcasting into homes and businesses via a cable. This can be a coaxial cable used for television, or a telephone line. It is generally used for the same reason as cable TV was in its early days when it was "community antenna television", in order to enhance the quality of over-the-air radio signals that are difficult to receive in an area. However, cable-only radio outlets also exist. It can be both FM or AM. The use of cable radio varies from area to area - some cable TV systems don't include it at all, and others only have something approaching it on digital cable systems. Free-to-air (FTA) services are television (TV) and radio services broadcast in unencrypted form, allowing any person with the appropriate receiving equipment to receive the signal and view or listen to the content without requiring a subscription, other ongoing cost, or one-off fee (e.g., pay-per-view). RaiPlay is an Italian Video on demand#Subscription models, subscription video on-demand Over-the-top media service, over-the-top Streaming media, streaming service owned by RAI. The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by RAI. History RaiPlay was created on 9 January 2007 as Rai.tv and operated by Rai Net (now Rai). The website allowed viewers to watch and listen to programs entirely or partially produced by Rai. The availability of programs was subject to copyright. The website also hosted exclusive content including interviews, extras, specials and blogs. A podcasting service was also made available from RaiPlay. Until January 2009, the app used by the site to play files had been Windows Media Player 11. Rosario Tindaro Fiorello (born 16 May 1960), known just as Fiorello, is an Italian comedian, singer, radio and television presenter. Career Fiorello was born in Catania, Sicily, and raised in Augusta, Sicily. He began his career working in tourist villages, first as a barman, and then as an entertainer. Near the end of the 1980s, Fiorello was brought to Milan by Bernardo Cherubini, whom he had met in Valtur Villages.
