R366 Road (Western Cape)
The R366 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Elands Bay in the north-west with the R365, and indirectly, Piketberg and the N7. Route Starting in Elands Bay it runs south-east along the north bank of the Verlorenvlei River. After 28 kilometres, it passes Redelinghuys on the right. After a further 21 kilometres, it crosses the Kruismans River. It then veers east to end at a t-junction with the R365 after five kilometres. If you continue straight at the t-junction, you veer South towards Piketberg on R365. The turn-off north also continues as the R365, heading north-north-west to Leipoldtville and Lamberts Bay Lambert's Bay is a small fishing town in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated north of Cape Town. They are designated with the letter "R" followed by a three-digit number. They serve as feeders connecting smaller towns to the national and provincial routes. Designation as a regional road does not necessarily imply any particular size of road; they range from gravel roads (like the R340 between Plettenberg Bay and Uniondale) to multi-lane freeways (like the R300 near Cape Town). Elands Bay
Elands Bay is a town in South Africa, situated in the Western Cape Province, on the Atlantic Ocean, at . The town is located about 220 kilometres (two and a half hours drive) north from Cape Town. It is a world class surfing location and is also noted for its caves, which have a number of rock paintings. R365 (South Africa)
The R365 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Piketberg and Lamberts Bay. Its north-western terminus is at the R364 in Lamberts Bay. From there it heads south then east for 29 kilometres to reach Leipoldtville. It continues for a further 57 kilometres in a south-easterly to south-south-easterly direction before crossing the Kruismans River and meeting the R366 at a T-junction from the south. Here, turning right, the westerly route is signed as the R366 to Elands Bay. The R365 turns left here, continuing east before veering south. After 13 kilometres, a turnoff to the left is given to Eendekuil. Continuing south, it ends at a four-way junction with the R44 at Piketberg. The R365 enters from the north, with the south and west roads unsigned. The easterly road is the westerly terminus of the R44. Piketberg
Piketberg (also sometimes spelt Piquetberg in the past) is a town in the Western Cape, South Africa, located about 80 km east of Saldanha Bay. The original spelling of the name was "Piquetberg". The town is in the foothills of the Piketberg mountains, a range of low mountains formed from Table Mountain Sandstone. The area around the mountains is conducive to the farming of wheat, while the area on top of the mountains, being cooler and generally frost-free, is suited to the farming of fruit and Rooibos Tea. Piketberg possesses a large Dutch Reformed Church designed by the architect Carl Otto Hager in his trademark neo-Gothic style. The N7 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Cape Town northwards through the West Coast and Namaqualand regions to the Namibian border at Vioolsdrif. After crossing the border, it changes designation to B1 and runs north through Windhoek and the north of Namibia. Verlorenvlei River
Verlorevlei River is a river in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Lying on the Sandveld of the West Coast, the river runs past Eendekuil, Het Kruis, and Redelinghuys. The river mouth is located at Elands Bay. Its tributaries include the Hol River, Kruismans River and the Krom Antonies River. It falls within the Drainage system G and the Management Area. The river is the only known habitat of the endangered Verlorenvlei redfin. Around 30 km northwest of Redelinghuys, a marshy lake feeds the river. In the winter, it is kilometers long, and the water is concealed under the green reeds. In summer, the lake runs dry. 500 species of birds have been spotted here. The lake is popular with bird watchers and anglers alike. Redelinghuys
Redelinghuys is a village in the Bergrivier Local Municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa, located about north of Cape Town on the Verlorevlei River. The 2001 Census recorded the population as 581 people in 167 households. The village is situated on the R366 regional route between Piketberg and Elands Bay. It is served by a police station, a public library, a satellite health clinic, and two primary schools. The town has a predominantly Victorian architecture. Lambert's Bay is a small fishing town in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated north of Cape Town. It is part of the Cederberg Municipality. The coast town has been proclaimed 'the Diamond of the West Coast' because of its white beaches, wildlife and lobsters.
