R2 Road (Zimbabwe)
The R2 Road is an international road in Zimbabwe that runs from Harare (Capital of Zimbabwe), through Bulawayo, to Plumtree border post. It is a combination of the A5 Highway which is the Harare-Bulawayo Highway and the A7 Highway which is the Bulawayo-Plumtree Highway. For the purpose of regional identity the highway from Botswana to Harare the capital city of Zimbabwe is named Road 2 (R2). Source: ap 9.2 Road Transport Network of Zimbabwe. Bulawayo
Bulawayo (, ; ) is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. Bulawayo covers an area of in the western part of the country, along the Matsheumhlope River. Along with the capital Harare, Bulawayo is one of two cities in Zimbabwe that are also Provinces of Zimbabwe, provinces. Plumtree, Zimbabwe
Plumtree is a town in Zimbabwe. Marula trees, wild plum trees (Ntungulu in tjiKalanga) grow abundantly in the area. The town was once called ''Getjenge'' by baKalanga. It is also often called ''Titji,'' meaning station, and referring to the railway station which was operating in the area around 1897. Location The town is located in Bulilimamangwe District, in the Matabeleland South Province, in southwestern Zimbabwe, at the international border with Botswana. A5 Road (Zimbabwe)
The A5 Highway is a national road in Zimbabwe. It joins the cities of Harare and Bulawayo, and is hence known as the Harare-Bulawayo Highway. It is one of the two routes that form the R2 Route, which connects Harare with the Plumtree Border with Botswana. It has a total length of approximately . In Harare the Highways begins as an extension of Samora Machel Avenue (west). You can pick it from Harare Show Grounds roundabout. However the A5 begins at the right T-Junction with Mutley Bend (road) where Samora Machel Avenue ends. This is at the parkade popularly called China City. In Bulawayo, A5 is called First Avenue at its intersection with Samuel Parirenyatwa Street. Kwekwe ( ), formerly known as Que Que, is a city in the Midlands province in central Zimbabwe. Chegutu, originally known as Hartley, is a town in Mashonaland West Province, Zimbabwe. Location The town is located in Chegutu District, Mashonaland West, in central northern Zimbabwe. It lies in the Hartley Hills southwest of the capital Harare at an altitude of above sea level. Population The 1982 population census recorded 19,621 inhabitants, rising to 30,122 by 1992.
